American Health Network (AHN), a part of OptumCare, provides primary care, specialist care, and ancillary services throughout Indiana (Indianapolis) and Ohio (Columbus). We have an exciting new opportunity for an Internal Communications Manager to help support the business continue to grow and focus on Value Based Care.

The Internal Communications manager will be responsible for business operational communications with key focus on areas such as: Leadership Team support (CFO and COO), Clinical Programs, Employee Engagement Campaigns, Newsletters and Operational Updates.

If you are located in Indiana and Ohio, you will have the flexibility to work remotely* as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Compose business and operational communications for company intranet, driving positive culture and increasing teammate engagement
  • Generate templates, draft copy and distribute articles, newsletters and emails to targeted and company-wide audiences
  • Manage company intranet including publishing business and operational content targeting all teammates, all managers and specific locations or teams - ensuring high quality of content and relation to business strategy
  • Develop and implement project management tools used to productively track business and operational communications activity and projects for internal use
  • Assist Communications teammates in coordinating and managing internal Communications campaigns and projects in alignment with the Optum Corporate Communications team
  • Manage editorial and planning processes for all active social media channels in alignment with the Optum social media team.
  • Develop and edit material and presentations used for companywide activities and/or leaders
  • Prioritize and organize own work to meet deadlines

Required Qualifications:



  • 5+ years of internal communications and project management experience within a matrixed organization
  • 5+ years of professional writing and editing experience
  • 5 years of experience with intranets and social media (i.e., blogs, pod casting, etc.)
  • 5+ years of experience working with full suite of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • 5+ years of experience in translating technical and scientific information into layman's terms
  • 5+ years of experience building relationships with internal stakeholders



*All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy

The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
