The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating invoice processing, while also ensuring compliance with policies, procedures and regulatory agencies and will report to the Associate Director of Accounts Payable Supply Chain. Responsibilities include staff training and development. The AP Manager will also ensure accurate invoice processing according to service level agreements and serve as a liaison between customers and multiple departments. The team serves AP integrated business segments under OptumCare.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Oversees accounts payable team responsible for high volume non-PO invoice processing, using Concur and spreadsheet uploads
  • Workload management (level loading & ensuring team stays within service level agreements)
  • Staff development and training providing continuous feedback and coaching
  • Educate employees and managers on AP systems and policies (e.g., Remitra, Premier Connect, PeopleSoft)
  • Collaborates with Corporate Systems to maintain AP systems (e.g., Remitra, Premier Connect, PeopleSoft)
  • Identify and communicate systems needs and enhancements
  • Ensures compliance with applicable AP and expense policies
  • Ensures compliance with applicable internal and external policies, procedures and regulations (e.g., UHG expense policies, tax authorities, regulatory agencies and Sarbanes-Oxley regulations)
  • Ensures compliance with applicable control requirements
  • Leverages tools, resources and available information to detect potential fraud and takes appropriate action
  • Generate standard and ad hoc reports as required
  • Works with other departments to ensure accurate and timely processing of payables
  • Resolves payment and process escalations
  • Work with Accounting teams to monitor GL coding changes to ensure accurate invoice posting
  • Serves as a resource for staff regarding policies and procedures, GL coding validation and approval authorization
  • Coaching and counseling employees to perform work to the high standards expected within the department including performing excellent customer service
  • Monitors team's performance; develops action plan to improve performance and metrics
  • Identifies and supports opportunities for process improvements
  • Supports integrations and implementations both for acquisitions and new/updated systems

Required Qualifications:



  • Undergraduate degree equivalent work experience or (5+ years of experience beyond in lieu of degree)
  • 5+ years supervisory experience, preferably in accounts payable
  • Proven advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel (Pivots/XLOOKUP)), Word, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerPoint and Teams)
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written
  • Proven to be highly organized with ability to multi-task



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience with People Soft Financial, Remitra and Premier Connect
  • Healthcare experience
  • Experience with Accounting ERP Systems
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise remote employees
  • Proven ability to solve problems and resolve conflicts
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively communicate with leadership

The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
