The Loudoun County Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure (DTCI) is seeking a self-motivated Transportation Engineer on the department's traffic engineering team. This position will:
* Manage County projects within the traffic calming, cut-through traffic, residential permit parking district, and shared mobility devices programs. * Manage initiatives to address traffic safety and operational issues, and identify solutions based on engineering principles that comply with current federal, state, and local laws, policies, and guidelines. * Work with state and local transportation agencies. * Have the ability to assess and understand technical and analytical reports, including engineering drawings and site plans, leading to data-driven solutions. * Effectively convey complex technical ideas verbally and in writing. * Provide prompt, effective and courteous service to internal and external customers.
The successful candidate must: * Possess strong project management skills, leadership qualities, and technical knowledge of traffic safety and operations on VDOT-maintained roadways, as well as multi-modal transportation best practices. * Possess project management experience in leading initiatives, solving problems, and managing budgets and timelines. * Demonstrate a proven track record of successfully working with the public, elected officials and other organizations on traffic related matters. * Be dependable and customer-service-focused. * Have excellent communication, presentation, and public speaking skills. * Be able to reason and solve problems in a collaborative manner. * Be able to manage multiple time-sensitive tasks in a fast-paced work environment. This position is eligible for partial telework in accordance with County and Department policies. Flexible scheduling is also available to address required meeting attendance outside of normal business hours.
This position is eligible for a $6,000 hiring bonus in accordance with the County's Hiring and Retention Bonus Program.
Salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a four-year college or university accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technologies with coursework related to the assigned area; three (3) years of related professional engineering and construction management work experience with direct design as well as administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Employment is contingent upon successful background check completion, including criminal, credit, and driving record checks. A valid driver's license is required.
The position requires occasional attendance at night meetings to present information to the Board of Supervisors and/or other stakeholder groups. Candidate must possess a valid driver's license.
