Shift:4 night shifts Monday-Friday 9:00pm-7:30am (Weekend/Holiday/On-call rotation with other staff) * Base Pay Range: $19.15 - $30.23 per hour, based on experience * Shift Differentials: Additional $4.00 per hour for Night shift * Choose Between Sign-On Bonus -OR- Retention Rewards o Sign-On Bonus: $10,000 o Retention Rewards: Up to $15,000 * Relocation Support: Additional $5,000 if moving from over 50 miles away * Retention Reward (Option 1): $2,000 per year for up to 5 years, totaling $10,000 * Student Loan Repayment (Option 2): $2,000 per year toward student loans, up to 5 years, totaling $10,000 o Note: Details will be provided during the HR interview. DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION Perform chemical, bacteriological, serological, or microscopic laboratory test procedures on specimens in one laboratory section. Perform quality control to ensure proper functioning of instrumentation reagents, and procedures. Recognize instrument malfunctions and abnormal test results and take corrective action. Calibrate, standardize, and maintain instruments following established procedures. Prepare reagents, standards, and controls according to prescribed procedures. Validate, review, and report results of tests performed. Assist in training students and new staff members in laboratory tests and procedures. Perform tests requiring routine and/or complex instrumentation such as optical, photometric, fluorometric, electronic, automated, and scintillation. Research and develop new medical laboratory procedures as assigned. Dispose of or properly handle biological, radioactive, and/or hazardous waste in a manner that is consistent with laboratory, university, state, and federal government policy. Participate in the ordering activities for supplies, materials, and equipment as needed. Perform related work as assigned. May complete unit/department-specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS One of the following: --associates degree (or equivalent credit hours) from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program; or --associates degree (or equivalent credit hours) in chemistry, biology, physics, or health science, and two (2) years of experience in a medical laboratory area; or --associates degree (or equivalent credit hours) in chemistry, biology, physics, or health science, and completion of a military laboratory training program of at least one (1) year duration; or --bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics, or health science. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and may require ambulating, remaining in a stationary position and positioning self to reach and/or move objects above the shoulders and below the knees. The employee may frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 lbs. and occasionally move objects up to 25 lbs. This role may also routinely come into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
