The Duncan Manufacturing Solutions - Inspector provides the final conformity inspection on aircraft or component parts and/or articles. The DMS Inspector also provides final conformity inspection on all contracted fabricated items, as required. Reviews completed documentation, inspects physical products after completion and ensures required paperwork is completed and ready in conjunction with purchase orders and Work Order Instructions. In addition, this position signs off tasks and/or in process inspections; determines the appropriate documentation required per customer requirements; inspects fabricated parts being consumed by the Repair Station, sold to an outside customer, or fabricated in accordance with the Duncan PMA Quality System using appropriate tools and equipment, as applicable; ensures conformity with approved Engineering data, specifications and standards as defined in Duncan Aviation's DMS Manual. The Inspector mentors others to develop regulatory and inspection process knowledge and raise overall quality level of department; and accurately bills time to work orders.

Essential Job Functions



  1. Performs PMA Inspector duties to include: In-process inspections; Final Conformity; First Article Inspection; Complete Documentation; Ensures approved Engineering data is used and documented; Marking/Identifying of product is complete and accurate; coordinate with the ODA; Completion of the Work Order.
  2. Performs Repair Station repair/modification duties to include: In-process inspections; Final Conformity to provided data; Ensures correct Engineering data is used and documented; Marking/Identifying of product is complete and accurate; Complete the Work Order/Squawk.
  3. Performs Contracted production Inspection duties to include: Using Duncan's AS9100D system, In-process inspections; Final Conformity; First Article Inspection; Complete required documentation; Ensures appropriate data is used and documented; Marking/Identifying of product is complete and accurate; coordinate with the customers Quality Dept. as necessary; Completion of the Work Order.

  4. Reviews completed documentation of work performed for accuracy and comprehensiveness and inspects physical product(s) for compliance and quality of workmanship. Signs off task or inspection. Ensures paperwork is completed and ready in conjunction with delivery of the product.

  5. Coaches and mentors inspectors in assigned department to promote continuing improvement of overall quality level of department and develop their regulatory knowledge. Provides input to production team leaders on performance of the department's qualified inspectors to assist with annual performance evaluations.

  6. Determines and understands the required paperwork to be retained for the different end customers the parts are being fabricated for.

  7. Works with the DMS management to ensure compliance with AS9100D Quality Objectives to include functional tests as necessary.

  8. Performs other duties as assigned by management.



Job Specific Requirements



  • Licenses/Certificates: Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required; on-call hours and overtime may be required
  • Physical: Be able to pass Drug/Alcohol testing; reads small print; hears sounds associated with mechanical deficiencies; repetitive motion; tolerates working in confined spaces and heights above four feet; tolerates products and materials associated with fabrication process; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching and sitting
  • Environmental: Tolerates working in noisy environments



Education and Experience



  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • Eligible to obtain PMA Inspector Status
  • Knowledge of Fabrication processes, methods, including special processes
  • Ability to read, interpret and understand Blueprints, Standards and other Approved Engineering Data
  • Attention to detail
  • ISO/AS9100D familiarization is preferred
