What you'll be doing...

The Network Systems team at Verizon is seeking a Network Systems Solution Architect to design and develop software solutions for managing Wireline and Wireless Network Inventory and Topology, as well as Network Build, Grooms, and Decom processes.

You will be responsible for the following but not limited to:

  • Collaborating with a diverse group of engineers, business owners, and industry experts to design and architect strategic solutions.

  • Leading discussions with the business to determine the requirements and design of large-scale software systems and services that best meets the needs of the business.

  • Providing technical leadership on the Network Inventory, Build, Decomm & Topology domains, drawing on your extensive knowledge of relevant processes, methodologies, and technologies.

  • Leveraging your deep understanding of multi-tier application development frameworks to drive end-to-end architecture design.

  • Guiding cross-functional teams in crafting innovative solutions, clearly communicating the impact on existing systems and processes.

  • Championing industry best practices, incorporating emerging tools and technologies in the autonomous network domain.

  • Defining and documenting business and architectural requirements, prepare project estimations, and propose innovative technical solutions.

  • Participating in all phases of solution development, from initial planning and design to implementation and go-live, ensuring alignment with SOE/SRE standards.

  • Designing and developing reusable, scalable data models that effectively meet business needs.

  • Fostering a culture of technical excellence by advocating for best software engineering practices and actively participating in code and design reviews.

  • Collaborating effectively with stakeholders, customers, and suppliers to establish and document high-level solution intent.

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

  • Experience with overall IT architecture, design, systems development in Telecom Equipment build, Network build, Inventory & Topology domains.

  • Understanding of Wireline and Wireless Access, Edge & Core Network technologies, respective Network build & management process.

  • Knowledge on Layer 1, Layer 2 transport network device configuration & activation.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, OCI, Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes).

  • Experience with object-oriented programming, SOA, modular code development, design patterns, multi-threading.

  • Experience in distributed systems with data intensive applications and data ingestion/processing frameworks such as Apache Flink, Kafka, Airflow.

  • Develop, test, and refine prototypes to demonstrate the feasibility of new ideas.

  • Conduct thorough research and analysis to support the development of innovative solutions.

  • Present findings and demonstrate prototypes to stakeholders, including executives and potential customers.

  • Experience in system design and architecture, including feature definition and low-level design creation.

  • Experience working with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., Oracle DB, PostgreSQL, Neo4J, MongoDB, Cassandra).

  • Passion for exploring new technologies and driving continuous improvement.

  • Experience and solid understanding of the broad business goals and direction, delivering solutions to complex business/ordering problems.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with global teams, including vendors and offshore resources.

  • Able to organize around a problem and engage various teams to solve the challenge.

  • Possess good communication skills to coordinate with stakeholders and report to management.
