At BFS, a General Manager oversees all aspects of a location to achieve maximum sales and profits with available resources by performing the following duties:
- Responsible for the overall sales (professional and retail), operations, production, delivery, purchasing, and inventory control of the location.
- Oversees the daily operations of the location.
- Oversees the development and implementation of inventory control programs to meet location inventory levels and turns.
- Involved in the recruiting, hiring, and training process.
- Motivates employees, maintains a productive workforce, and trains successor management. Reviews and approves wage and salary increases and establishes objectives and performance measures.
- Recommends capital improvements in view of forecasted demand for various products, efficiency of current equipment, etc. Institutes a cost-effective vehicle and equipment maintenance program. Reports obsolete equipment/facilities and submits recommendations regarding replacements or improvements.
- Supports and reinforces company safety initiatives to ensure compliance with all OSHA and DOT requirements.
- Responsible for budget accountability and reporting as it pertains to the financial goals of the company.
This position manages subordinate supervisors in various departments. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university.
- Four years related managerial experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have prior experience in building materials industry, in particular Trusses and Components.

Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

In addition to the base wage listed, this position is also eligible to earn an annual bonus subject to changes in plan design and documents and in accordance with applicable law. Eligibility and the amount of the bonus varies based on overall company success, thresholds met and other terms and conditions of the Company's active bonus policy for the respective year.
