Overview

This is a hybrid role with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office located in Raleigh, NC.

The Senior Human Resources Advisor provides consultative Human Resources (HR) guidance at the highest level of expertise to Bank managers and associates. Offers advice and direction on a variety of business matters while managing select HR processes such as associate appeals, benevolent and natural disaster accounts, and Health and Safety issues. Leads coaching on regulations, policies, and best practices. Develops solutions to support personnel management and addresses emerging risks. Acts as a central point of contact for inquiries, encouraging self-service and understanding of HR policies. Responsible for investigating complex violations in professional conduct, business practices, and corporate security; escalates to the appropriate parties while maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity. May provide a leadership role for work group, conducting special projects or reviews as needed.


Responsibilities

  • Advisory Services - Interprets HR policies for managers and associates and directly manages several processes. Provides expert advice to associates on workplace relations and ethical codes. Coaches managers on employee relations, engagement, and performance. Provides support on disciplinary actions, improvement plans, and other personnel functions including impact analysis and preparation of packages. Conducts investigations into potential violations, and evaluates information for reviews, charges, and other internal cases related to employee labor laws and regulations.
  • Education - Develops the understanding of HR policies, standards, and procedures to encourage self-service for general inquiries. Builds manager and associate capability through coaching, consultation, and classroom training. Acts as a resource on policy interpretation for less experienced associates in the work group.
  • Collaboration - Engages with key stakeholders to manage reporting, prepare necessary documentation, and support business reorganization. Fosters communication between managers and associates.
  • Risk Mitigation - Evaluates HR inquiries, matters, and investigations for compliance with all applicable policies, standards, and regulatory requirements. Identifies risk trends and emerging issues, and participates in remedial actions to resolve identified issues. Addresses complex and sensitive matters, including engaging external legal counsel when necessary. Maintains confidentiality and sensitivity to reduce business risks.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience in Employee Relations or Human Resources

OR High School Diploma or GED and 6 years of experience in Employee Relations or Human Resources

License or Certification Type:
* PHR/SPHR and/or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP preferred

Preferred Skills:
* 6+ years of experience in Employee Relations or Human Resources
* Knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and dispute resolution
* Human Resources experience within a large financial institution (LFI)
* Experience leading employee relations investigations
* Experience with ServiceNow or similar case management system
* Ability to compile and present data analytics to internal partners and leadership
* Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
* Ability to communicate comfortably and effectively across all levels of the organization
