Course / Program Description

The current opening is for our Data Analytics for Public Affair courses. Qualified applicants possessing current knowledge and teaching experience in this area are encouraged to apply.

We are currently looking for instructors to teach in the following Courses:

1 - Advanced Technology and Public Policy

2 - Ethics and Big Data

3 - Data Visualization

4 - Introduction to Programming and Data Science

5 - GIS and Spatial Data Science

6 - Urban Data Science

7 - Statistical Methods for Public Policy

These courses are held online.


Job Description

UCLA Extension is considered one of the top programs of its kind, offering to more than 35,000 students per year approximately 4,500 classes and non-degree certificate programs to meet the professional development, continuing education, and personal enrichment needs of the full spectrum of nontraditional students as well as companies and organizations throughout and beyond the Los Angeles region. Data Analytics in Public Affair Instructor to teach 100% online course mode on a quarterly basis.


Instructor Duties:

* Develop and/or update course syllabus in consultation with the UCLA Extension Program Director

*Prepare and deliver course materials and learning assessments in assigned format

*Utilize the Canvas Learning Management System as the course support platform as the delivery platform in online and hybrid courses.

*Respond to student questions and learning needs in a timely manner

*Communicate with Program Director, Program Representatives and Online Course Managers in a timely manner

*Employ culturally competent teaching methodologies in the classroom inclusive of both domestic and international student populations

*Evaluate student achievement of Specific Learning Outcomes and assign grades

*Post final student grades to the transcript system in a timely manner no later than 2 weeks after the last date of course meeting

* Interact with the UCLA Extension Digital technology Department's internal staff for timely administrative tasks.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications

*Minimum Ph.D., or Master degree or JD

*Minimum five years of relevant work experience

*College-level teaching experience (preferred)

*Experience in online teaching (preferred)

*Experience designing curriculum and measuring student performance preferred

*Must be committed to the highest level of academic standards and integrity

*Highly effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to convey conceptual and complex ideas and information

*Highly effective interpersonal skills

Preferred qualifications

*College-level teaching experience

*Experience in online teaching
