Introduction

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is seeking professional, dedicated individuals for two full-time Intelligence Analyst positions located in the Criminal Investigations Division.


Job Summary

Duties include but are not limited to:
* Produces intelligence and crime summary reports. Reviews reports and updates intelligence analysis database for specific patterns; assists with producing intelligence summaries with trend information.
* Provides data and statistics. Responds to requests for data and statistics from within and outside the Agency.
* Analyzes crime patterns and related trends. Apply findings to assist with crime prevention or related program development.
* Submits data to intelligence and crime analysis database. Enters field interview cards into database; reviews and summarizes data for crime bulletin; and produces trend data for use within the division.
* Analyzes open-source data, social media, public records, and databases to uncover possible patterns of crime.
* Analyzes criminal intelligence information and provide findings and recommendations that assist supervisors and command staff in the deployment of resources for the suppression and prevention of crime.
* Develops reports, conducts briefings and presentations on analytical findings; provides information for decision making purposes.
* Provides analytical support to investigations. Produces analytical charts, timelines, link charts, maps and matrices, cell phone analysis. and mapping to
support investigations.
* Responds to inquiries; provides consultation, technical advice and resource referral information.
* Develops and maintains positive relationships with outside agencies; shares information and collaborate with internal and external partners.
* Knowledge of theory, principles, practices, and methods of intelligence analysis.
* Knowledge of research techniques and statistical analysis.
* Skill in communicating, both orally and in writing, using math and statistics, and creating graphs and maps.
* Skill in using computer applications, including Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), geographical interface systems (i.e.. Google Earth, Weblogis, ARCVIEW), Microsoft Office applications, and other regional applications.
* Ability to carry out assignments according to work orders/instructions and to provide direction, task assignments, and responsibilities; and follow instructions and complete assigned tasks.
* Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with employees, supervisors, officials, and the general public.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality.
* May be required to work outside normal business hours.

Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs.

Hiring salary commensurate with experience.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field; three (3) years of work experience in research, criminal justice, public administration, law enforcement, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Selection process includes review of the Applicant Screening Questionnaire and County employment application; in-person interview(s); and an intensive background investigation to include fingerprinting, criminal background check, credit check, driving record, and polygraph examination.

Must have a valid driver's license. VCIN/NCIC certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.
