Description This will be a senior engineer position. The target max salary upon conversion will be $140k The Senior Unix Systems Engineer is responsible for the deployment and support of UNIX Server-based operating systems. Regular job responsibilities will involve making design decisions, developing team standards and documentation that is based on the goals of project initiatives, and/or changing business needs. The Unix Systems Engineer II also will be responsible for: supporting a variety of UNIX technologies including Kubernetes and Linux, completing of customer and team-driven projects, and resolving incidents, requests, and tasks routed through Service Now. This includes participating in a 24/7 On-Call rotation for Priority Level 3 and higher service calls. The main focus for this role will be Kubernetes, they are in a scramble and need a resource to manage the platform. The previous focus on AIX is not important for this position. Need someone who can manage an on-prem Kubernetes installation and not just in the cloud. Someone with a DevOps background is strongly preferred. 5 + years of working with Kubernetes specifically on-prem: Performance monitoring, working with developers and app teams to onboard new aspects of the app, monitoring enhancement, rearchitecting, and having discussions around how to improve the current infrastructure for Kubernetes. Building/creating new clusters. Understand Deployment pipelines, Jenkin, BitBucket, and Ansible. Linux Server Technology support for a minimum of 5 years 5+ years working with CI/CD pipelines, IaC, and Agile environments is a plus. Ansible is also going to be a big need (Automation) - Should be able to understand what it is. Virtualization - most of what they have is on VMware and the client has a decent inventory that runs through Nutanix. Possibly looking to move off this in the future.
