Summary: Under the supervision of diagnostic imaging leadership an Imaging Intern assists radiologists/residents with non-image interpretation tasks and performs other imaging department administrative support functions. The Imaging Intern works closely with radiologists in the reading rooms to streamline workflows to reduce disruptions during interpretations for exams. Triages reading room telephone calls for radiologists Serve as liaison between radiologist and hospital personnel administration and clinics Prepares current and prior imaging viewing to expedite study interpretation Performs administrative tasks for reading room Responds to all radiologist study-related requests in an efficient manner to optimize turnaround times Troubleshoot issues and notify responsible parties as needed Preload conference lists and organizes materials for radiologists Assists in the overall function of the reading room under direction of the radiologists Demonstrates accountability and responsibility as a hospital employee Maintains HIPAA quality assurance safety environmental and infection control in accordance with established hospital department policies procedures and objectives Performs other related duties as required. Other information: EDUCATION: Currently enrolled in a bachelor*s degree program with an intent of pursuing medical school. EXPERIENCE: Completion of 40 hours of volunteer or professional experience within a hospital setting required Completion of 60 college credits with focus on human sciences required Completion of Human Anatomy and Medical Terminology college level course required Current GPA of 3.3 or higher required WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Prolonged sitting standing and walking. Exposed to all patient elements. Repeated bending squatting. INDEPENDENT ACTION: Works under the supervision of the imaging leadership within the scope of hospital and department policies and procedures. Refers specific complex problems to supervisor where clarification of departmental policies and procedures may be required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None.
