DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Motor Carrier Enforcement Officer Trainee, you will learn to play a vital role in ensuring the safety and compliance of motor carrier companies. This training is designed to develop proficiency in performing technical safety, size and weight, and hazardous material inspections of motor carrier vehicles and operations to determine compliance with and enforce state and federal safety laws while obtaining the necessary certifications. With our team, you will learn to help to improve the safety of commercial motor vehicles and promote a safer and more efficient transportation system. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours: Rotating shifts
- Telework: This position does not offer telework.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of mechanical experience, law enforcement-related experience, or post secondary school education; and a high school diploma or equivalency; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and education that includes a high school diploma or equivalency.
Special Requirement:
- You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C motor vehicle operator's license.
Additional Requirements:
- You must possess or obtain a Basic Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) certification during the probationary period and maintain certification for tenure in the job.
- You must possess or obtain a General Hazardous Materials Inspection Certification during the probationary period and maintain certification for tenure in the job.
- You must obtain MCSAP New Entrant Safety Auditor Certification during the probationary period and maintain certification for tenure in the job.
- You must possess or obtain a Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Police within the probationary period and maintain certification for tenure in the job.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
- This job title has been identified as performing critical duties. Prior to placement in this job title, the selected candidate, regardless of their current job, must submit a report of medications for screening by the State Police Medical Officer.
