Position Overview

McAdams Design Interns assist in the coordination, design and plan production for a variety of development projects while working as part of the Planning + Design Department.

Key Responsibilities



  • Assist team in conceptual design through construction drawing preparation
  • Utilize AutoCAD and other software to assist team in the production of high-quality deliverables
  • Conduct site analysis and research on native plants, environmental considerations, and sustainable design practices to inform project decisions
  • Assist with the preparation of design presentations, project boards, and client deliverables, ensuring materials are well-organized and visually compelling
  • Work closely with landscape architects, project managers, and other team members, gaining insight into the design process and professional workflows
  • Work in accordance with company standards and protocols
  • Attend company training sessions including lunch and learns
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Skills + Experience



  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited program in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, or related field
  • Prior experience with AutoCAD preferred
  • Ability to contribute creative ideas and pay attention to detail in design work, with a strong visual eye for layout and presentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
  • Eager to learn, proactive, and comfortable working collaboratively in a team environment

  • Work will primarily be in an office setting with limited opportunities to be exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Work will be primarily working with fingers by picking, pinching, typing, and grasping often with repetitive motion.
  • Must have visual acuity for viewing a computer screen, the ability to talk, hear and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 5 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Additional physical duties may be required as necessary.
