Vice President Business Development - Darling Wet Pet

Job Summary

The Vice President Business Development - Darling Wet Pet is responsible for the oversight of Strategic Planning & Business Development. This involves extensive outreach to the entire Darling organization both working with that organization to facilitate business generated ideas as well as identification of new business opportunities for Darling. Provide general leadership and accountability for the strategic planning departments performance. The vice president will apply special knowledge, experience or skills to make departments run smoothly and in tandem with other parts of the organization.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the procurement of Raw Materials required by the business and the sales of finished products to customers on a day to day as well as longer term strategic basis
• Monitor key macro trends impacting the business and work closely with operations to ensure the smooth day to day running of the Wet Pet facilities
• Develop strategic plan for customer sales and facilitate the necessary company actions to achieve this plan
• Lead negotiations of RM purchases and FP product sales with suppliers and customers working closely with Darling colleagues and industry partners
• Assist Business with analyzing margins and maximizing spread
• Work closely with VP Operations Wet Pet to ensure continuity between different areas of the business
• Communicate closely with SVP and direct reports on all areas of the business that the BD group is involved
• Communicate and work with the pet food industry overall to ensure trends in the industry are well understood by the Darling WP group
• Maintain and increase in depth knowledge of particular industry activities which can have an impact on different areas of the Darling WP group

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and/or Master's Degree in Business Administration, statistical analysis, analytics, or engineering required.
• Minimum 10 years of business experience which must include commercial operations experience (cannot entirely be in strategic planning).

• Excellent math skills, including statistical analysis.
• Self-motivated; self-starter; extroverted personality.
• Work well with all levels of the corporation.
• Basic level of accounting knowledge.

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, bend, and kneel
• Frequently lifts up to 10 lbs.
• Long periods spent sitting at desk in front of computer screen.
• Regularly required reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment

Job functions will be carried out in an office environment. However travel will be required with the frequency depending upon specific projects.
