Job Overview

TheSenior Cost Accountantplays a key role in maintaining and analyzing cost data to support manufacturing and operational decision-making. This position is responsible for managing standard cost maintenance, variance analysis, and financial reporting to improve cost efficiency across the organization. The role involves close collaboration to drive accurate costing and strategic financial insights.

Key Job Responsibilities


  • Maintain annualstandard cost rolland ongoing standard cost updates for all Surface original equipment and aftermarket parts in the U.S.



  • Responsible forOE Shovel and Drill cost analysis, including identifying root causes of variances, providing analytics, operational metrics, and insights to the manufacturing and parts divisions, and developing action plans to minimize future variances.



  • AnalyzeProduction Order variancesfor Milwaukee operations, working with production management to identify root causes.



  • Responsible forOn-Time Complete financial metricsand supporting the team in understanding result drivers.



  • Partner with Supply Chain to ensure proper infrastructure is in place to executecost rollseffectively on a quarterly basis and during the year-end review.



  • Assist in thecalculation and analysis of internal cost per hourused for actual results and forecasts.



  • Serve as theOperations Accounting team SMEon costing-related transactions and processes within SAP.



  • Manageproduct cost investigations, comparing current product designs to proposed changes by analyzing Materials, Routings, Standard Costs, Info Records, Production Orders, and Material Masters.



  • Liaison withPurchasing and Supply Chainto ensure proper maintenance of MM parts data for quarterly cost analysis.



  • ReviewOE machine standard costsand prepare monthly cost estimates used in themonthly POC analysisfor machine costs, coordinating with Commercial Management.



  • Assist the Accounting Manager in analyzingManufacturing and Purchasing variances, including Production Order, Subcontract, Tariff/Freight, and other cost variances, reviewing changes weekly to assess their impact.



  • Partner withNPD product teamsto advise on cost impacts throughout the design and implementation process.



  • Perform regularBOM and Routing reviewswith Industrial Engineering to improve standard cost accuracy.



  • Ensure compliance withaccounting policies and SOX controls.



  • ConductMake vs. Buy analyses, assisting in the identification of true landed costs for subcontracted materials and supporting discussions on in-house vs. subcontracted production decisions.



Qualifications/Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting;CMA and/or CPA preferred.



  • 3-5 yearsof experience inmanufacturing accountingand operations.



  • Experience withSAP production management softwareandMicrosoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).



  • Strongcritical thinking and problem-solving skillswith an attention to detail.



  • Ability to read, understand, and analyze production order blueprints is a plus.



  • Excellentinterpersonal and communication skills.



  • Knowledge ofKomatsu or industry productsis a plus.



  • Ability tomanage multiple tasks and meet deadlinesin a fast-paced environment.
