I-240 Service Road, OKC OK 73135 Shift: PRN/ Days/ 6:30am-3pm M-F Responsibilities The Pharmacy Technician at our hospital plays a key role in supporting pharmaceutical care services under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This position involves preparing, processing, and dispensing medications, ensuring proper medication storage, and assisting in various pharmacy operations. The Pharmacy Technician will also collaborate with nursing staff, assist with inventory management, and provide excellent service to patients, families, and hospital staff. Key Responsibilities: Medication Preparation & Processing: Assist the pharmacist in preparing and processing medications according to prescribed instructions, ensuring accuracy and patient safety. Medication Storage & Inspection: Regularly check nursing units for proper medication storage, ensuring all medications are stored in compliance with hospital policies and procedures. Medication Repackaging & Barcode Creation: Repackage medications and apply barcodes to ensure easy identification and tracking within the pharmacy system. Inventory Management: Order, stock, and transport pharmaceutical supplies as needed, adhering to all pharmacy policies and inventory management procedures. Patient and Staff Interaction: Respond to inquiries from patients, families, visitors, and employees in a courteous, professional, and collaborative manner to promote a positive patient experience. Age-Specific Competencies: Demonstrate the ability to assess and meet the unique needs of patients of different age groups, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Mathematical Calculations for Compounding: Perform necessary mathematical calculations for compounding medications, ensuring precision and adherence to safety standards. Qualifications Education: High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required. Licensure/Certification: Registration with Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician within 45 days of employment and national technician certification within one (1) year of service. Experience: One (1) year hospital pharmacy experience preferred. Working Knowledge: Assists the pharmacists in the preparation, dispensing, compounding and ordering of medications. Is able to repackage medications and restock the automated dispensing machines. Demonstrates competency in aseptic technique and handling hazardous materials. Demonstrates a general knowledge of word and data processing operations sufficient to perform data entry and generating necessary reports.
