Position Summary
The Emergency Room (ER) Technician is a support healthcare professional, who performs various duties, assisting the Emergency Room nurses and physicians in delivery of age-appropriate, quality patient care, in accordance with the policies, procedures, and objectives of Rochelle Community Hospital and the nursing department.
Education
Must have high school diploma or GED.
Must be currently certified as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)-Basic (or higher), or Medical Assistant.
Experience
Must be currently BLS certified.
Must attend Basic Dysrhythmia course as soon as practicable/available upon hire.
Previous hospital experience preferred.
Must show competency of those skills designated by the Manager of Emergency Services by written exam and/or demonstration.
Must be in good physical and mental health, and able to work under pressure.
Must have effective communication and teaching skills.
The ability to operate designated medical and computer equipment must be attained.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
Occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Frequent lifting and/or handling of light weight items is likely.
Frequent repositioning of patients is expected.
Requires sitting, standing, and walking a majority of the workday.
- Constant kneeling, stooping, bending, twisting and occasional need to lift patients
Requires direct patient contact with potential exposure to blood and body fluids.
Ability to perform CPR is occasionally required-a strenuous activity.
Requires quick movement, agility and fast response time.
- Exposure to communicable diseases is possible, and wearing PPE may be required.
