SCOPE:
The Senior Manager of the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) is responsible for overseeing the organization's sponsored programs and grant activities. This role encompasses both pre-award, end-to-end department processes, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and organizational regulations, and enhancing the organization's funding portfolio.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Pre-Award Management:
- Proposal Development: Work with market and national staff to help guide development and submission of competitive grant proposals, ensuring adherence to sponsor guidelines and organizational policies.
- Funding Opportunities: Ensure proposed funding opportunities from external sources, including federal, state, foundation, or other funding sources, that align with mission, goals and priorities.
- Budget Preparation: In conjunction with finance team, assist in preparation and facilitate review of proposal budgets, ensuring accuracy and compliance with sponsor requirements.
Regulatory and Compliance Oversight:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and ensure compliance with federal, state, local regulations and institutional policies governing sponsored programs.
- Support audit inquiries from internal financial team.
- Serve as the primary liaison between relationship managers to facilitate internal action to address identified compliance issues related to proposal development and submission.
Leadership and Administration:
- Department processes: Oversee and optimize all departmental processes ensuring smooth operations from initial opportunity identification to proposal submission through award management.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance the organization's external funding capabilities.
- Reporting: Prepare reports for organizational leadership on sponsored program activities, funding trends, and compliance issues.
- Collaboration: Foster a collaborative environment focused on high performance; effectively manage relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to support the organization's mission.
- Staff Education: Training and Outreach: Conduct on-going internal workshops and training sessions on grant writing, budget development, and compliance issues for staff.
EXPERIENCE:
- 8-10 years experience
- Four year college degree or equivalent experience
- Project management experience
- Supervisory experience
- Comprehensive understanding of federal regulations, sponsor guidelines, HIPPA, and best practices in grants administration.
- Ability to utilize Asana, Excel and other software systems
- Certification in Grant/Contract Management or similar certification preferred.
