Woodward is an Equal Opportunity Employer EO/AA/M/F/Disabled/Protected Veterans POSITION PURPOSE The Calibration Technician 3 reports to the Facilities Leader and is responsible for performing calibration and advanced repair/troubleshooting of instrumentation and measuring systems. Typical duties involve calibration of analog and digital pressure gauges, temperature controllers and thermocouples, flow meters and flow metering systems, electronic instruments and custom electrical test systems for fuel control applications. The Calibration Technician Level 3 also assists A&T personnel with troubleshooting of instrumentation systems to resolve complex problems with production and development test systems; provides feedback to Test Engineering on system reliability and makes recommendations on improvements in the areas of uncertainty, reliability and proper implementation in test systems. The Level 3 Calibration Technician also participates in the design review process for new or upgraded instrumentation systems. Essential Functions *Performs periodic calibration and verification of instruments and systems per written work instructions and according to predetermined schedules. Understands and is capable of operating all pressure calibration master systems including DH pressure masters and deadweight calibrator for pressure instrument calibration; deadweights for scale calibration; master timer for time calibrations and Wahl temperature master for temperature controller and thermocouple calibration; Fluke 5700 calibration standard for voltage, current and resistance calibration functions. Must also be knowledgeable in position sensing instrumentation such as LVDT's, RVDT's, resolvers, and demodulation techniques for use in calibrating electronic test boxes. *Diagnoses and corrects most complex problems in test equipment and associated instrumentation. Routinely works with Test Engineering to resolve complex problems. *Coordinates installation of instrumentation in test equipment, connecting instruments to existing hydraulic, mechanical and electronic systems in production or development test stands; works with Test Engineering on system design and specifications. *Works with Production Engineering to resolve complex problems with test equipment and Test Engineering to ensure proper use and application of instrumentation. *Documents mechanical or electrical problems and utilizes internal and external resources to find solutions to those problems. *Analyzes test results in relation to design or rated specification and test objectives; modifies or adjusts equipment to meet specifications. *Documents calibration work in an Access database in compliance with quality requirements and to demonstrate compliance with customer requirements. *Notifies Production Supervisors and consults with Production Engineering to resolve out of tolerance situations and analyze the impact on production hardware. *Writes calibration work instructions for new equipment based on manufacturers recommendations and input from Test Engineering. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities *Advanced ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings and hydraulic schematics. *Fully capable of using all key precision mechanical and electronic measurement devices. *Windows PC skills with solid experience using spreadsheet, word processing, Access database and WISE screens. *Ability to work in a team atmosphere with emphasis on customer service and ability to lead projects. *Ability to learn and apply new concepts/techniques to work environment. *Exhibits desire for challenging work. |
