CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Principal Fire Protection Engineer to join our Commercial & Institutional - Fire Protection Services Team at our Birmingham, AL or Cullman, AL office or working remotely.

CHA Fire Protection Services offers highly specialized fire protection engineering services and cutting-edge solutions to the most challenging fire protection projects. Our knowledgeable staff manages complex industrial, commercial and design/build fire protection projects, including sprinkler systems, fire pumps, ground storage tanks, underground piping, and special hazards.

The Principal Fire Protection Engineer has considerable engineering knowledge in their respective field and may provide leadership for their work group based on their extensive experience. The professional in this role is responsible for providing guidance and oversight to multiple teams working on numerous fire sprinkler and fire alarm projects. The Principal Fire Protection Engineer oversees all phases of a technical project from conception and design to completion, while providing engineering guidance to other departments and training new engineering staff.

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required; Master's degree preferred
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• Minimum 15 years of progressive engineering experience required
• Expert knowledge of the respective engineering discipline with a proven ability to practically apply best practices
• Proficiency with MS Office software required
• Understands QA/QC procedures and basic business practices as well as laws related to engineering
• Advanced proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.)
• Completely familiar with and advocates for the company's standards for quality control and compliance
• Ability to demonstrate leadership skills and effectively work in a collaborative environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent knowledge of fundamentals in specialty areas
• An active role in a professional engineering society/organization preferred
• Proven ability to lead a team

$158,000 - $178,000

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
