The Salvation Army Kroc Center of Green Bay is looking to add energetic, creative, and enthusiastic staff to help lead our Summer Camp teams. As a Lead Camp Counselor not only will you be building your resume with universal skills that benefit any career path like, teamwork, leadership, public speaking, CPR, and child management techniques, you will also serve as a leader and role model for campers and your team.

Lead Counselors play a key role in planning and delivering a fun and organized camp experience for children aged 5-12! Lead Counselors prepare and lead exciting activities like arts, sports, and educational games while ensuring a safe environment. They also help with communication to parents as needed, manage daily rosters, and take on leadership responsibilities. From coordinating activities to maintaining the camp's appearance, Camp Leads are integral in making the camp run smoothly.

The hourly wage for Lead Counselors is $16.53 for a 1st year lead with additional pay for 2+ year Lead Counselors.

Kroc Summer Camp is an entirely outdoor camp experience. Camp runs June 9 - August 15. Get ready to make a positive impact and create lasting memories for kids this summer!

JOB OBJECTIVE

The Summer Camp Lead Counselor works directly with children and organizes, prepares, and leads general activities such as arts and crafts, sports, educational, and other age-appropriate activities. Under direct supervision, per state requirements, is responsible for the safety and well-being of a small group of children aged 5 - 12 by ensuring appropriate behavior and that the group is in the proper location at all times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Assist the Youth Development Supervisor in the preparation and execution of summer day camp activities.
2. Organize, prepare, and lead age-appropriate activities for children ages 5 - 12, such as arts and crafts, sports, educational activities and games.
3. Assist supervisor in communication to parents, administration of state forms, and other administrative duties. This does not include communication regarding financial or disciplinary situations.
4. Ensure campers meet behavioral expectations and positively intervene when necessary.
5. Coordinate camp activities when coordinators are unable to perform their duties due to emergencies or absence.
6. Utilize CCMS (Community Center Management System) for timely and accurate record keeping, including the areas of statistical reports related to all camp activities.
7. Ensure the attractive appearance, operational function, and general upkeep of the camp venues including equipment and furnishings.
8. Submit material and equipment requirements to the Youth Development Supervisor as necessary.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Participate in designated staff meetings, training and professional development courses as directed by supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent required. 6 college credits in education / early childhood development is highly preferred.
• 1year of experience working with youth in a camp setting required.

OR -

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: First Aid, CPR and AED Certification must be obtained within the first 30 days of hire.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions will vary based on the activity being conducted. Some activities will take place indoors in a climate-controlled area while others will take place outdoors with varying temperature and humidity levels.
