Description
The Town of Erie Parks & Recreation team is looking for the life of the party! The Party Attendant will assist the Party Host with a variety of duties which involve rental operations for shelter rentals, birthday parties and rentals at the Erie Community Center, the Erie Community Park and the Coal Creek Cafe. The duties include, but are not limited to, engaging with guests, offering assistance, and participating in activities during birthday parties, events, and rentals to ensure a memorable experience. This position normally follows established routines and will also respond to unusual situations or matters requiring immediate attention. Our Party Attendants will need to be personable, friendly, and great with visitors of all ages. All staff are expected to adhere to the Town's mission, vision and values of TRUE. ANTICIPATED WORK SCHEDULE:
Part-time to include mornings, afternoons, nights, and weekends as needed; not to exceed 130 hours/month on average. Schedule may vary depending on program specific needs. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED: Knowledge of: To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate exceptional leadership and communication skills and must possess expert knowledge of the principles, practices, trends and methods of recreational operations and programming in a community setting. Knowledge of guidelines and regulations related to Department, Town, County, State, and Federal policies and procedures also required. Skills in: Initiative and decision-making; verbal and written communication; supervision, leadership, and interpersonal relationships; basic financial methods of recreational programming; outstanding customer service to a diverse population; administrative functions; time management, meeting deadlines, responding to internal and external requests in a timely manner; the use of standard office equipment, computers, and various software programs; positive and professional working relationships with all Town staff and the community; conflict resolution; handling controversial issues; comprehending instruction, correspondence, and policies and procedures; problem solving; remaining composed in emergency situations and working effectively under stressful circumstances; performing CPR, First Aid, and AED to level of certification. Environmental Factors: Work duties will be performed indoors for 75% of the workday with occasional job duties taking place outdoors, outside of the employees work office in safe weather conditions. The use of fog machines may expose the employee to chemicals, fumes, and dust, though work will not be required directly in front of the fog machine. The employee will occasionally walk on uneven surfaces such as sidewalks. Loud noises such as music for parties will be encountered. Physical Factors: While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be sitting, standing, and walking in approximately the same location for a large portion of the work shift. The majority of time during the workday will be spent moving to various locations throughout the Erie Community Center and engaging with party attendees. Up to three hours a day will consist of the employee performing repetitive motions tasks such as moving objects which may include tables, chairs, boxes, and other various items. The employee will often bend over, kneel, or stoop both halfway and all the way to the ground. The employee will frequently grasp objects such as tablecloths, plates, umbrellas, and chairs for short periods of time. Tasks will require the employee to push or pull light weight items and lift objects weighing up to fifteens pounds, rarely lifting objects weighing up to twenty-five pounds. The employee will frequently reach up and down for objects up to ten pounds. Employees will need to be able to obtain information from labels (such as those on cleaning product containers) at a close distance. The ability to see in both light and dark environments and differentiate between various colors is necessary, as is the ability to be able to hear and communicate with others including children and party hosts.
