DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Registry Specialist, you will implement and operate components of the Pennsylvania Cancer, Birth, and Death Registries overseen by the Division of Statistical Registries. Your duties will include overseeing and monitoring compliance with reporting requirements, as well as analyzing, consolidating, and editing reported case information for incorporation into their assigned registries. In this position, you will act as a registry field representative to establish and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders who are responsible for reporting events to the program's registries. As a field representative, you can expect to assist these stakeholders in developing quality assurance programs to ensure high quality and timely reporting occurs in accordance with statutory and funding guidelines. You will also advise health care professionals on the most effective reporting procedures to ensure compatibility between individual health information systems and registry reporting requirements. Additionally, you will provide oversight and monitoring of compliance with applicable legislation and corresponding communicable disease-reporting regulations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • This position will have two weeks minimum of mandatory on-site training.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. You will report into the office one day per month and as needed for training. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of professional experience in health information management; or
  • Three years of technical experience in a health information registry; or
  • Three years of experience as a Registry Technician Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) within the Pennsylvania Department of Health; or
  • A bachelor's degree in health information management or a related field.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
