Join a dedicated team in our 30-Bed Neurosurgical Trauma ICU (NST ICU) as the Nurse Manager of Patient Care at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. Working together, you'll bring your expertise, compassion, and excellence to all we do. As the Manager of Patient Care, you will create and maintain an environment that assures nursing practice reflects established standards of care and a culture that promotes patient safety.

Be responsible for the daily operations of the assigned nursing unit, including:

• Creating and managing staffing plans and ensuring appropriate equipment and resources are available to staff to do their job.
• Ensure the safe transition of patients through the continuum of care to include the active participation of nursing staff in planning and coordinating patient care, and direct hand-off to the next appropriate level of care.
• Be accountable for meeting operational budgets for the assigned department.
• Collaborating with other units and physicians, you will have the ability to manage the shared governance in the department.

As a model care unit, the NST ICU assures the patient remains in the center of practice using the entire multi-disciplinary team and evidence-based practice. This leadership role currently has 6 Supervisors and 8 Clinical Mentors reporting to the Manager. The ideal candidate will be easily adaptable and comfortable doing MDI and A3s. Additionally, the NST ICU is generally responsible for the Code Blue team and assist with occasional traumas in the Emergency Department. This is a Salaried Manager position located in La Jolla and is bonus eligible

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors in Nursing plus five years applicable clinical experience, two of which in a leadership role.
• Requires excellent skills in communication, problem-solving, team development, planning and follow-through.
• Ability to exercise the authority and responsibility for assigned services based on the scope of the organization and complexity of patient care. Graduate of an accredited program
• Maintains current California RN license.
• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS and ACLS certification and all competencies/certifications required of the charge RN on the unit.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two years ICU leadership experience, including Supervisor highly preferred
• ICU experience with trauma and stroke patients.
• MSN
• CCRN
• ICU experience with Trauma and stroke patients.
