This is a temporary position. SUMMARY The Accounting Support Specialist provides essential administrative and clerical support to the accounting team, ensuring accurate financial operations. This role involves managing daily tasks, supporting accounts payable/receivable, reconciling records, and contributing to financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a foundational understanding of accounting principles. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports and promotes the mission of the Agency: Foothill Family empowers children and families to achieve success in relationships, school, and work through community-based services that advance growth and development.
- Assists with day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and general ledger entries.
- Processes invoices, expense reports, and payments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Performs data entry tasks to maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
- Helps prepare payroll, track employee hours, and resolve payroll inquiries.
- Reconciles bank statements and other financial accounts.
- Supports month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepares and distributes financial reports and documentation as needed.
- Responds to internal and external inquiries regarding financial transactions.
- Maintains organized and up-to-date financial files and records.
- Assists with audits by providing necessary documentation and support.
- Attends in-person meetings and events at various locations within the Los Angeles County and surrounding areas.
- Provides services relating to the administration of public funds or benefits, including eligibility for public funds or public benefits.
- Displays sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomics characteristics.
- Performs work in a safe manner at all times and ensures that other individuals do not put themselves or others at risk.
- Follows all policies, procedures and legal mandates including HIPAA, client confidentiality, releases of information, protected health information (PHI) and client files.
- Ensures performance and behaviors support the Agency's performance quality improvement (PQI) goals and objectives.
- Reports to work on time and maintains reliable and regular attendance.
- Performs other duties and projects assigned by the accounting team.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Experience: 3-6 months in accounting or similar role.
- Technical Skills: Familiar with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Sage).
- Knowledge of GAAP and wage and hour laws preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and verbal/written communication.
- Provides services relating to the administration of public funds or benefits, including eligibility for public funds or public benefits.
- Must not be excluded, suspended, debarred or otherwise made ineligible on the Federal, State or County Sanctions lists.
