This is a 12 month exempt administrative position.

QUALIFICATIONS:



  • MA in Food Service preferred
  • BS in Dietetics, Restaurant Management or related field required
  • 3-5 years related experience required
  • Ability to plan and conduct a full food service program including:
    -Knowledge of all applicable Federal, State, and Local food service regulations -Ability to select, train, evaluate and direct a food service staff of 100 employees -Ability to develop, monitor, and manage a full food service budget -Ability to develop menus, monitor food production and service and assure that all food service efforts comply with meal requirements -Ability to develop specifications and solicit competitive prices for all required food, non-food and instructional equipment and supplies -Ability to administer free and reduced lunch programs including application approvals and collection procedures
    -Ability to prepare revenue, accounts payable, and participation reports and to establish and maintain the food program inventory system -Ability to establish team nutrition program and act as the district liaison



RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Administer and oversee the daily operations of food services and child nutrition program
  • Review Frontline for employee absences and substitute coverage. Make necessary arrangements for employee transfers to cover emergencies
  • Review all invoices prior to payment. Process all food services invoices for payment
  • Human Resource: staff issues, interviewing, testing, employee documentation, accident reports, access cards, employee evaluation
  • Food Service (FS) employee safety training
  • Implementation of Federal, State and Local policy and procedures as they pertain to the Child Nutrition Program. Internal audits and on site reviews for adherence. Breakfast service in thirteen buildings and lunch in twenty-one.
  • Oversee menu planning and nutrition analysis through our department's Registered Dietitian. This includes but not limited to; ordering, receiving, food safety and sanitation, food preparation, special diets, usage and waste
  • Coordinate the transport of furniture, equipment, packages with the Food Service Drivers. This includes band equipment for festivals, supplies and display panels for the Fine Arts Festival, building used book round-up.
  • Determine department equipment needs and specs. Work with purchasing agent to secure milk, bread and pizza bids with purchasing agent
  • Work with the business office on the food services budget
  • Determine yearly labor needs through labor analysis and time studies. Make necessary recommendations
  • Complete all reporting required by the USDA - i.e. Monthly State Claim, Annual Verification, Child Nutrition Program Application, Commodity Provider and Commodity Order
  • Preparation and distribution of yearly Free/Reduce Meal Benefit Application. Responsible for determining qualification for benefits, Direct Certification through the Department of Human Services, Civil rights, Counting and Claiming Meals, Computerized Software System-Meal Magic, maintaining confidentiality and maintenance of files
  • Secure Food Service Establishment Licenses and adherence to all Health Department requirements within the food service department as well as outside organization using our building to serve the public
  • Conduct the annual inventory of food and disposables for 23 buildings
  • Work directly with district auditors on department grant audits
  • Act as the School Food Service Authority for CRE Audits and Nutrition Reviews
  • Supervise one registered dietitian, one office secretary, three food service drivers, seven central kitchen cooks, and ninety-two building staff
  • Oversee processing of timesheets for payroll and absence reporting and records
  • Assist in planning new facilities
  • Implement district-wide customer service driven philosophy that focuses on value and satisfaction
  • Performs other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent
