Position: Interior Design (Commercial) Intern (Summer 2025)

Physical Location: Birmingham, Alabama (On Site)

Reports To: Design and Construction Manager

Working Conditions: Standard office environment, no adverse conditions; Some travel may be required.

Primary Purpose:

Manage and track facility related construction and design projects, working with internal and external stakeholders to provide a quality product to our employees and bank customers. Gain space planning, commercial interior design and move management knowledge through office and field related activities. Assist the Design and Construction department to compile process and procedure documentation.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Students will be involved in design, move management, space planning, project management, estimating, design, construction, marketing, security, AV and accounting in various ways
  • Assist with building occupancy tracking and employee move management.
  • Assist with managing furniture, artwork and other external design related vendors.
  • Job Site Visits - Visit job site with Design and Construction Manager or Department Design Project Manager, make sure project is running smoothly and to Cadence Standards.
  • Secure quotes from vendors and contractors for various design related projects.
  • Complete space planning, test fits for renovations and new site selections.
  • Assist Department Interior Designer, Facility Manager and Architect with selecting interior finishes including paint, flooring etc.
  • Track and complete assigned projects and task.
  • Assist with department process and procedure training and documents.



Job Specifications:



  • Undergraduate level students enrolled in an Interior Design Degree program (3rd and 4th year students only).
  • Interns are expected to work a normal 40-hour week
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Project
  • Experience using Revit or Rhino required; AutoCAD, and/or BIM modeling software a plus
  • Positive Attitude
  • Time/project management skills
  • Duties require professional and strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Duties require strong computer skills, attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to reason and make basic decisions unsupervised and able to work in fast-paced environment
  • Ability to compose or create routine reports and correspondence
  • Regular and reliable attendance
  • Works cooperatively with others
