What you'll be doing...

As part of the Verizon Responsible Business organization, Verizon's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team seeks a Senior Manager to lead a portfolio of social impact programming that supports Verizon's disaster resilience strategy which is committed to helping communities better prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.

  • Responsible for the long-term strategic plan and execution of Verizon's portfolio of social impact programs focused on community disaster resiliency.

  • Create and manage the portfolio of disaster resiliency programs, regularly analyzing performance and progress toward meeting social impact goals and KPIs.

  • Partner across numerous business teams (including network, state government affairs, public sector, and marketing, among others) to ensure the programs leverage all of Verizon's core capabilities and deliver integrated value across the business.

  • Establish long-term positive partnerships with external stakeholders from the private, public and non-profit sectors that support the success of the portfolio of disaster resilience programs. Monitor the performance of partners and make changes as necessary to drive optimal results.

  • Regularly monitor emerging best practices on disaster resilience strategies, incorporating them into programs and initiatives to drive continuous evolution.

  • Oversee all operational aspects of these programs, including management of the project plans, administering the program budgets, and delivering accurate reporting.

  • Partner with marketing and public policy to identify external engagements that provide opportunities for thought leadership to amplify Verizon's brand in the social impact and disaster resiliency space. Represent Verizon in these venues where appropriate.

  • Frequently provide program updates to critical stakeholders and Verizon senior leaders.

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

  • Experience in disaster resilience, emergency management, or related discipline.

  • A self-starter, with an ability to effectively manage complex, multi-disciplinary projects with challenging milestones and aggressive targets.

  • Can work effectively with all levels of management across many departments to achieve mutually beneficial results.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to represent Verizon in high-stakes meetings and public events.

  • An innate curiosity and a passion to learn about corporate social responsibility and responsible business, and the aspiration to help Verizon enhance its reputation as a socially responsible corporation.

  • Proficiency in all Google Drive applications, with an ability to create visually compelling content that communicates complicated information in an engaging way.

  • Willingness to travel as needed.

  • Willing to accept other US locations for this hybrid role.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant discipline, such as Sustainability, Climatology, Emergency Management or other relevant discipline.

  • Knowledge and/or experience with leading/well-known disaster relief or recovery programs.

  • Understanding of the telecommunications industry.

If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. work location, the compensation range for this position is between $101,000.00 and $188,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
