JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Fruit Research and Extension Center, is a part of the College of Agricultural Sciences and is looking for an Administrative Assistant. This position will be filled at the Support level and will operate in-person at the center, which is located in Biglerville, PA.

The Administrative Assistant position plays an important role in supporting our team and assisting the administrative supervisor with a wide range of activities to ensure the smooth operation of the Center.

Responsibilities: This individual will have the following primary responsibilities:

  • Report to the administrative supervisor to review daily tasks, updates, and any issues requiring attention.
  • Serving as the first point of contact for in-person visitors and telephone callers.
  • Calendaring meetings for Center employees and outside stakeholders, supporting the administrative supervisor in all operations, including human resource tasks, accounts receivable, accounts payable, pcard reconciliation, travel reimbursement processing, gift processing, purchasing, shipping, producing informational materials, website management, planning and organizing industry events, routine inspections of the graduate house.
  • The overall support for our farm manager, faculty members, graduate students, field technicians, and other staff employees.
  • Should have excellent organizational, communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team environment.

Additional responsibilities may include assisting all department programs with any special needs and projects that may arise.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a High School degree.
  • Experience as an administrative assistant or a similar role will be a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.)
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to learn new software applications specific to Penn State Systems.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$34,800.00 - $50,500.00
