Primary Purpose of Department
The School of Professional ( SPS) reports to the division of Academic Affairs, reporting to the Associate Provost. SPS works collaboratively with departments, colleges, and academic support units to ensure integrated partnerships for enrollment growth, student success and faculty effectiveness in teaching.
Primary Purpose of Position
The Senior Program Manager is responsible for effectively managing all aspects of online, hybrid, and site-based academic programs, and acts as the liaison for the School of Professional Studies working with colleges to ensure an integrated and effective assessment for academic programs. The major responsibilities can be grouped into areas of program support, student services, compliance activities, and quality assurance.
Summary of Position Responsibilities
The Senior Program Manager ( SPM), works collaboratively with academic departments and colleges to ensure an integrated and effective, institution-wide planning (in both the short and long term), marketing, delivery, and assessment of Academic Programs and courses. The Senior Program Manager ( SPM) is assigned overall responsibility for several specific academic programs, and is also assigned to be the central point of contact on specific issues, services, technologies, etc., that impacts academic programs.
Minimum Education/Experience
  • Master's degree and at least two years of work experience in the administration or direct support of educational programs.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Master's degree in higher education, learning and development, adult education, educational research/evaluation, or a closely related field.
  • Work experience in academic/online education at an institution of higher education.
  • Budgeting experience is desirable.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Diplomacy and professionalism.
  • Exceptionally strong organizational and analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to be a self-directed, independent decision-maker.
  • The position requires a strong service orientation and the ability to exercise good judgment in the handling of many sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Applicants must be experienced in using a personal computer for word processing, spreadsheet, database, and web based applications.
  • Applicants must have experience in and/or knowledge of: contemporary models for academic online teaching and learning, including the delivery of support services to students remote from the campus, a variety of academic/online technologies, marketing principles and strategies and the delivery of programs online and at off campus sites, and to adult learners.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted for the stated qualifications.
