Summary: This role is part of our Advisor Transitions team focused on providing solutions and services to allow large practices to grow and transition within Northwestern Mutual. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep expertise in mergers and acquisitions, excellent rapport with Field advisors, and a thorough understanding of Northwestern Mutual's best practices, distribution principles, and awareness of our diverse network office cultures. Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Engagement in Transactions: Actively engage when a transaction is identified by a practice, ensuring a smooth and strategic process from the outset. -
Deal Structuring: Collaborate with buyers, sellers, and all equity partners to ideate and structure optimal deals alongside strategic partners. -
Continuous Support : Be an integral part of the expert team, providing ongoing support and expertise throughout the engagement with external partners. -
Liaison with NM Home Office teams: Bring in home office expertise in the review and execution of the transaction as needed. Keeping key stakeholders informed. -
Assumption Testing: Pressure test practice and/or strategic partner assumptions and suggest 'what-if' scenarios to ensure all potential outcomes are considered. -
Capital Solutions: Recommend potential capital solutions available within NM or broadly in the market based on the specific transaction and needs. -
Diverse Perspectives: Incorporate a diversified Northwestern Mutual point of view, considering insights from Home Office, Field leaders, buyers, sellers, and policy owners. -
Strategic Partnerships: Partner with Chief Growth Officer (CGO),Managing Partners (MP) and Field Growth & Engagement teamto ensure cohesive engagement and alignment with organizational goals.
Qualifications:
- Expertise in M&A: Minimum 10 years of proven experience consulting to mergers & acquisitions transactions, with a successful track record of managing and executing deals.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business, law, or related field. CFA or CPA preferred.
- Field Rapport: Strong ability to build and maintain positive relationships with Field advisors preferred, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills.
- NM Best Practices: Deep understanding of Northwestern Mutual's best practices, and principles, ensuring alignment with company standards preferred.
- Knowledge of Northwestern Mutual system: Awareness of our go to market strategy through an MP led system including roles and contracting framework
- Cultural Awareness: Insight into the diverse cultures of different network offices within NM, allowing for tailored and effective engagement.
- Contract Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of various Northwestern Mutual contracts and roles preferred.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and provide innovative solutions that align with both buyer and seller needs.
- Collaborative Approach: A team player who collaborates effectively with internal and external partners to achieve successful outcomes.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to pressure test assumptions and suggest viable scenarios and solutions. Demonstrated ability to synthesize analysis for various audiences.
