Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cost Accounting Manager to join our dynamic finance team. This individual will play a key role in managing our cost accounting processes and ensuring accurate financial reporting of manufacturing operations both domestically and internationally. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in cost accounting, a foundation in public accounting, and have hands-on experience utilizing SAP ERP systems. Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee inventory management practices, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in inventory valuation and reporting.
  • Lead cycle counts and collaborate with operations teams to resolve any discrepancies or issues.
  • Manage the costing of inventory, including raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods. Ensure accurate capitalization schedules for fixed assets and proper recording of related costs.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports for manufacturing operations, both domestically and internationally, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and other relevant standards. Provide insightful analysis to senior leadership for strategic decision-making.
  • Utilize SAP to monitor, track, and report on cost data, inventory movements, and manufacturing costs. Ensure proper system configuration to meet business needs and collaborate with IT and other departments to optimize.
  • Develop, document, and maintain cost accounting policies and procedures. Ensure adherence to best practices and compliance with internal controls and external regulations.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve cost accounting processes and systems to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability. Lead initiatives to streamline operations and reduce cost variances.
  • Partner with various departments, including finance, operations, and IT, to ensure alignment on cost accounting objectives and continuous improvement in cost management processes.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to junior accounting staff, ensuring high standards of performance and continuous development.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
    • CPA or CMA certification preferred
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5-7 years of cost accounting experience, including at least 3 years with a Big 4 public accounting firm.
    • Strong hands-on experience with SAP and proficiency with Excel
    • Proven experience in inventory management, cycle counts, and capitalization schedules.
    • Experience with financial reporting for manufacturing operations in both domestic and international settings
      Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco notes the salary range for the role as follows: $115-135,000 . The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
