We are currently seeking an innovative recovery professional to serve as a Community Recovery Manager for the LA Wildfires Long-Term Recovery Operation in California.

Preference will be given to candidates from the communities of Palisades, Malibu and Topanga. This is a term-limited, benefits eligible position expected to last 24 months from date of the disaster with the opportunity to extend based on business need. This is a remote position with frequent travel to impacted communities will be required.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):

The LA Wildfires Long-Term Recovery Community Recovery Manager (CRM) reports to the Senior Manager, Community Recovery for the LA Wildfires and serves as a key support in a Red Cross region when a Recovery Program is implemented post-disaster. This CRM will primarily focus on supporting impacted communities in Altadena, Pasadena and Sierra Madre and play a key role in cultivating and maintaining relationships with partner organizations of all types, providing support, training, and technical expertise in community settings where communities, organizations and individuals come together to work collaboratively toward recovery. Managers collaborate with regional and chapter employees and volunteers to build capacity in the local community for the disaster cycle. This role will work closely with regional, chapter, and National Headquarters volunteers and employees.

On January 8, 2025, the Los Angeles Wildfires, stoked by the Santa Ana winds, eventually burned large swaths of highly urbanized sections of Los Angeles County. As January draws to a close, the two massive fires that destroyed more than 16,000 structures in California are nearly extinguished, but for those impacted, recovery is just beginning. The American Red Cross is working around the clock to support impacted households, and alongside our partners, we'll continue to be there for months and years to come.

The American Red Cross is standing up a long-term recovery program to support impacted communities, providing recovery programming and services to individuals, households, and communities affected by these wildfires.

The salary range for this position is $76,120 -$83,000. Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.

This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):
* Represent the American Red Cross and the Los Angeles Wildfire Long-Term Recovery (LTR) Program as a liaison with local partners and recovery entities
* Act as a facilitative leader in impacted communities to assess needs and gaps in the long-term recovery space and work to strengthen partnerships with various entities (NGOs, government, etc.) active in the recovery, offering recovery resources for disaster-affected households and communities
* Act to identify, document, and share vital community resources/needs/gaps through the wildfire LTRO structure to inform the development and continued monitoring of the Los Angeles Wildfire LTR programming strategy
* Identifies community concerns and escalates issues to leadership for awareness and early intervention
* Engages a broad cross-section of internal stakeholders, external partners, government, and community groups to identify and address community resource gaps
* Work as an advocate to ensure that Red Cross services reach all affected populations, especially vulnerable and underserved communities
* Support the development of local recovery organizing efforts, such as the stand-up of any Long-Term Recovery Groups (LTRGs), recovery collaboratives and other relevant initiatives
* Support the collection of qualitative and quantitative data collection for continued program monitoring and reporting processes
* Document Los Angeles Wildfire Long-Term Recovery Program activities and relevant community recovery information to empower the Red Cross Region and Division to continually deliver the Red Cross mission in the region.
* Work to continually inform the Red Cross Chapter Executive Director, Community Disaster Program Manager, Community Disaster Program Specialist, and other internal stakeholders
* Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. social services or service/program delivery preferred.

Skills & Abilities: Ability to work in matrixed environment to coordinate community efforts and workforce activities. Ability to interpret program trends, results, and related data to formulate recommendations. Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong skills in planning and problem-solving. Ability to relate well and effectively with diverse groups and individuals' responsibilities under "grey sky" requirements. Ensure all American Red Cross finance policies and procedures are followed as related to the scope of work activity. Ability to
work on a team.

Deployment Requirement: Disaster employees are required to deploy to disaster relief operations outside of their region at a minimum of once a year. Deployments contribute to skill building, career development and exposure to different types of disasters. Employees must meet all training and physical capacity requirements for deployment. Must have a Valid Driver's License

The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones
and printers, light traffic). The employee must have the ability to work in a small cubicle and have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.

Familiarity with Red Cross casework programs and reporting tools. Experience in community mobilization, disaster response/recovery preferable. Participation in/supporting community assessments strongly desired. Experience building and supporting a volunteer workforce preferable.
