SUMMARY The Resource and Education Coordinator Role at Yale New Haven Health System is built to align with the nursing professional development, Scope and Standards of practice framework. The NPDS role is a specialized nursing professional role that facilitates the professional role development and growth of nurses and other healthcare personnel along the continuum from novice to expert. The Resource and Education coordinator will combine the NPDS skill set with a quality conscious, evidence based, value added approach to the product and supply chain initiatives of the health system. This role will strategize to efficiently support product related education, staff support with a commitment to standardization, efficiency and cost savings. EEO/AA/Disability/Veteran
Responsibilities
- 1. Education:
- 1.1 Assesses the learning needs based on regulatory requirements, evidence-based practice, and staff-identified

- 1.2 Considers different levels of nursing experience and competency when designing education programs.
- 1.3 Considers safety implications for transitions to new or substitute products when designing education programs
- 1.4 Designs and implements learning opportunities at the health system, hospital, and/or specialty level in collaboration with the Value analysis team and Supply Chain team in alignment with all product changes requiring nursing staff education.
- 1.5 Uses multimodal teaching in provided learning opportunities
- 1.6 Collaborates among specialties and other delivery networks to offer high quality, standardized education across the health
- 1.7 Evaluates the outcomes of education
- 1.8 Connects education programs with improvements in patient care outcomes and operational effectiveness
- 1.9 Partners with colleagues across specialties to ensure consistent, high-quality content and education delivery.
- 1.10 Uses technology resources to improve quality of education programs.
- 1.11 Ensures all educational initiatives are appropriate in detail and complexity for the educational needs of the end users.
- 1.12 Participates and supports the delivery of general and specialty nursing education as needed across the health system.

- 2. Resource:
- 2.1 Develops collaborative relationships with the value analysis team to coordinate education for all appropriate product conversions, expansions and substitutes.
- 2.2 Establishes mechanisms for early staff communication and ways for nursing professional governance to be involved in educational initiatives as they relate to product changes
- 2.3 Establishes mechanisms for communication from the staff after product conversions are implemented to evaluate staff satisfaction with the educational support of the initiative.
- 2.4 Maintains professional and clear communication with local leadership as it pertains to resource announcements and product related educational initiatives
- 2.5 Collaborates with local NPDS to coordinate and support the delivery of large scale education related to products.
- 2.6 Supports all product related education and relationships with company representative support across the continuum around the health system. This includes but is not limited to orientation support, coordinating product re-education and facilitating education planning after a product related event.

- 3. Role Development:
- 3.1 Supports the development of nursing leadership skills in self and clinical nursing staff according to ANA Standards of Practice, to promote professional nursing practice and quality patient
- 3.2 Mentors and supports staff to develop as professionals through formal / informal education, specialty certification, membership in professional organization, and opportunities for advancement.
- 3.3 Mentors staff through the professional governance process.
- 3.4 Acts as a role model to promote the nursing

- 4. Collaborative Partnerships:
- 4.1 Represents nursing and nursing education as it interfaces with the value analysis team and the supply chain. Maintains an approach of advocacy in the best interest of the patient and the end user of the products. .
- 4.2 Acts as education and practice expert or a connection to the clinical practice experts in consultation with all other teams working as a part of the supply chain continuum.
- 4.3 Advances organizational initiatives through the education of nursing staff
- 4.4 Consults with performance improvement, regulatory, and other organizational teams in the design of education
- 4.5 Works closely with Nursing Professional Governance and the NPDS specialty teams to continue to optimize efficiency and standardization in the resources available to nursing across the health system including but not limited to the Policy Manager and other electronic resources.

- 5. Ongoing Education:
- 5.1 Develops initial and ongoing competencies in collaboration with nursing education teams as it relates to products and/or recent product change
- 5.2 Partners to develop continuing education programs that support the use of products and equipment across YNHHS
Qualifications
EDUCATION: Masters degree or higher required, one degree must be in nursing (Either BS or MS in nursing) EXPERIENCE: 3-5 Years of active Nursing experience SPECIAL SKILLS: Demonstrates ability to develop, deliver, and evaluate educational programs. Demostrates an ability to work independently, collaboratively and as an advocate for nursing in non-nursing settings ACCOUNTABILITY: In personal and job-related decisions and actions, consistently demonstrates the values of integrity (doing the right thing), patient-centered (putting patients and families first), respect ( valuing all people and embracing all differences ), accountability (being responsible and taking action), and compassion (being empathetic). COMPLEXITY: This role will require the individual to identify educational needs in a variety of settings in collaboration with a multitude of nursing and non-nursing teams. They will need to be able to design and plan an efficient educational strategy, communicate effectively with all teams involved and evaluate the effectiveness of their programs in an ongoing fashion. In addition they will need to be able to provide educational support or creatively seek out the appropriate resources for educational needs in all clinical areas of the health system. . LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Licensure as a RN in the state of CT/ RI & Nursing Board Certification within 2 years of hire
