In coordination with the head of transportation services and fleet management, the Transportation Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and evaluation of campus transportation programs, including personnel management of drivers for staff, patient, and courier transportation programs. Responsible for setting transportation routes and driver schedules, daily check-ins, yearly evaluations, and all associated performance reviews. The supervisor will create driver training and development programs to ensure the best service is provided to patients, their families, and campus employees. The supervisor will evaluate and monitor outside vendors to identify areas for improvements in efficiencies and increased customer service.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for dispatching daily routes for courier and shuttle drivers as needed.
  • Coordinates with departments for valet, parking, and transportation needs and support. Coordinates with and assists the head of transportation and fleet management in executing the plan.
  • Prepares and uses data analysis in planning for future transportation requirements to meet the needs of a growing workforce and expanding campus.
  • Supervises the staff, patient, and courier transportation programs to ensure the most efficient and effective methods of transporting personnel and courier products between campus and their defined destinations.
  • Supervises the shuttle drivers and valet service. Responsible for hiring and providing performance-related feedback, including through completion of performance reviews.
  • Operates a hospital motor vehicle to meet service needs as appropriate.
  • Develops and maintains a driver training plan pertinent to the duties performed by the drivers. Prepares training courses and conducts training classes.
  • Periodically conducts physical route surveys to determine deficiencies and make recommendations for corrective action.
  • Evaluate all GPS systems to ensure proper reporting and vehicle evaluations for mileage, usage, and to coordinate downtime.
  • Serves on hospital committees, attends meetings, and participates in various working groups as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the department.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • High School Diploma Required

Minimum Experience:

  • Five (5) years of progressive experience in a hospital, government, corporate transportation program is required with high school degree or three (3) years of experience is required with a bachelor's degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate with contracted services preferred
  • Two (2) years of experience scheduling and routing experience.
  • One (1) year experience as a professional driver.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law:

  • (LC: DLF-TN or DLF-ARK or DLF-MISS) valid driver's license with "F" or equivalent preferred

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $24.00 - $42.00 per hour for the role of Supv-Transportation.
