Job Summary

The North Sr. Sales Manager is directly responsible for planning, implementing and directing the sales activities of the UPSCO Region to achieve sales objectives. In addition, the North Sr Sales Manager will be accountable for the team's division strategy, CRM management, product line management, staffing and training, and budgeting and forecasting. The North Sr. Sales Manager will understand what motivates customers to buy and know how to tap into those needs and desires in an effective way.

The North Sr. Sales Manager has direct responsibility for continuing the sales growth and profitability of the UPSCO product lines by interfacing through their team's prioritized utility and municipal customers. The North Sr. Sales Manager will work closely with the National Sales Manager to set strategic division goals as well as individual goals and targets for their team.

In addition, the North Sr. Sales Manager will play a key role in product development and acquisition, staffing, training, budgeting and forecasting for the UPSCO Region. The position will also be responsible for CRM Management utilizing application to ensure team members are achieving goals and managing both opportunities and accounts efficiently.

Extensive overnight travel is required- as much as 60%. Travel will include onsite meetings with customers, trade shows/event and suppliers/vendor facility visits.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Utilizes CRM to manage all aspect of the Customer Relationship Management process within the division. This includes plans to manage key opportunities and account information through TDF.
  • Execute a division sales plan that meets or exceeds established sales quotas and supports UPSCO's revenue and profit targets.
  • Execute and set individual sales targets and KPIs with all members of the sales team.
  • Coordinate regularly with team members within the division to understand their dynamic business needs and position UPSCO support staff to meet those needs.
  • Maintain consistent communication and timely follow-up with key customer and prospects within the territory and be available and responsive to customer needs.
  • Work effectively with internal support departments (Marketing, Customer Service, etc..) to promote sales for new and existing customers to maximize visibility with UPSCO's target customers.
  • Plan and direct semi-annual evaluations with sales team members to review performance and set/reset goals and expectations.
  • Strategically forecast division revenue to assist in managing budgetary and inventory information
  • Analyzes markets, determines trends, and outlines the competitive landscape to develop product targets and services that would enhance region growth.
  • Stay abreast of current and upcoming market conditions and product requirements.
  • Provide aid in New Product Development and documentation to sales and operations as new lines or opportunities arise.
  • Providing solutions to customer's problems and responding timely to issues.
  • Attending trade shows and conferences and buying group meetings.
  • Complete sales activity reports and presentations in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain an awareness of market behavior and competitive trends and respond accordingly.
  • Other key duties may be assigned as needed to help the region succeed.

This position reports directly to the National Sales Manager.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has a direct sales team that will report directly to the North Sr. Sales Manager. The position will also have close interaction with the Customer Service team, but will not have supervisory responsibility for them.

Work Environment:

This job operates in an office environment, as well as offsite travel in automobile, truck or airplane. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines and will do product demonstrations in the field.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods, including as a driver or passenger in an automobile or airplane.
  • Ability to utilize a computer keyboard, computer monitor, and telephone for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to visit and move around at construction and other work sites, including the ability to maneuver in tight or small places.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and otherwise transport work-related materials that frequently weigh up to 50 lbs. and that may occasionally weigh more than 50 lbs.

Position Type and Expected Hours:

This is a full-time position. Company days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., and employees in this role must be available during the "core" work hours. This position may require after hours and weekend time to exceed customers' expectations. This is a sales management position.

Travel:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older
  • Must pass pre-employment assessment(s) if applicable

Required Education and Experience:

  • College degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years outside business-to-business sales management experience with proven record of accomplishment of success.
  • A valid driver's license and proven safe driving record.
  • Computer proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Must present and communicate in a professional manner
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be organized with good time management skills
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently to meet and exceed sales goals
  • Experience with gas utilities is preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Sales or related field preferred
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Minimum 7 years outside business-to-business sales management experience in the utilities industry
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
  • Training in recent sales techniques.
  • Technical aptitude.
  • Resides in the Northeast region.
