POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Training Officer will conduct all trainings for new and incumbent guards in accordance with all DHS/FPS standards and requirements. As a trainer you will be providing the training and instruction to our Protective Security Officers serving on a Federal Government contract, you will be responsible for providing initial and annual instruction, enforcing regulations, and ensuring the safety of personnel and property you will be instrumental to providing oversight to the guard force, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, vigilance, and a commitment to excellence in service, maintain a high level of alertness and situational awareness at all times. You will arrive on time and ready for duty, ensuring operational efficiency. Demonstrate respect, professionalism, and courtesy in all interactions. Adhere to strict grooming and uniform standards, including a professional appearance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Accountable for classroom instruction as required within assigned region
  • Accountable to maintain excellent communication with event venue hosts and firearms ranges
  • Accountable for presenting sponsored products/materials in a positive and informative manner
  • Accountable for adhering to the highest standards of safety in the classroom and during live fire (when applicable)
  • Able to travel to participate in events and a growth-oriented mindset, always ready for more opportunity.
  • Accountable for range safety, set-up, tear down, and storage of classroom digital video, computer equipment and ranges
  • Accountable for managing unforeseen issues and setbacks within classroom, venues or gun ranges; employing a commitment to minimize the effects of failure (regardless of fault) through resilience and decisiveness.
  • A demonstrated ability to lead and motivate administrative/operational staff effectively.
  • Assist in the development of and conduct required training programs for new hires and current employees.
  • Monitor, evaluate, or record training activities for program effectiveness
  • Facilitate remedial/alternative training methods if expected improvements are not seen.
  • Organize training procedure manuals and course materials such as handouts and visual materials.
  • Present information using a variety of instructional techniques or formats such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos or lectures
  • Evaluate training materials prepared by instructors, such as outlines, text, or handouts
  • Conducts quality assurance inspections
  • Provides instruction to new hires and current employees as required to maintain and improve marksmanship skills



QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Minimum 1 year field experience training in Security field, Law Enforcement, Military, or government contracts
  • Attend an approved and accredited Firearms Instructor (Range Official) course (e.g. NRA) certifying them as instructor
  • ARC or AHA First Aid-CPR/AED certification
  • Must be an U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in the English Language. (read, write, and speak)
  • Familiar with Smith & Wesson M&P handgun platform(s)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with handguns
  • Must have intermediate skill in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to effectively speak/lecture in front of large groups of people to include the client
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion
  • Ability to travel as required within assigned region
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening; position is also subject to random drug screening throughout the course of employment
  • Strong written and oral presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organization skills

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is typically in busy federal facilities, firearm ranges and office environments and subject to frequent interruptions with long periods of sitting, standing or walking. Extended hours to include nights, weekends and holidays may be required. May be subject to outdoor conditions including extreme temperatures and weather. Subject to high noise levels to include gun fire, hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat, extreme cold or exposure to chemicals.

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS

Heavy work: Exhibit exemptional physical fitness to be able to engage in physical training such as moving, shooting and defensive tactics, handcuffing techniques and use of a baton. Must have visual and audio acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment, machines such as fire equipment and apparatuses, firearms and clearing barrels. May be subject to outdoor conditions including extreme temperatures and weather. Subject to high noise levels.

Subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. May be required to be fitted for and/or wear a respirator.

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, often without breaks, and may be required to climb stairs or ladders and walk-up inclines and on uneven terrain. Must meet all physical and psychological standards as required by the contract. Must live in, be willing to relocate or commute to work.

Travel required 25% to 50% of the time.
