The Position Job TitleSBA Servicing Specialist II Job Description

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing effective and efficient management of the Small Business Association (SBA) loan portfolio with the assistance of the SBA Portfolio Manager. This position will primarily consist of daily review of SBA daily transaction reports, past due reports and file maintenance reports for reporting and payment posting accuracy, completion of all SBA 7a file overviews, contacting loan officers regarding any exceptions and assisting in preparing loan modification documents and amendments to SBA loan authorizations for loan term changes. Occasionally working with the Bank's Borrowers and Guarantors in obtaining financials to complete the requests, in compliance with all bank and SBA standards. This position will assist with task to the SBA Portfolio Manager in providing required SBA reports necessary to service outstanding SBA loans.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • This position is responsible for reviewing all 7a and Express loan information to ensure no major changes occurred since origination including but not limited to ownership changes utilizing the overview SBA Loan Information checklist.
  • Daily review of SBA reports including SBA Transactions Today and SBA 10 Day Past Due Report and Daily Transaction Report and ongoing communication with the markets on loans nearing 30 days past due to ensure and confirm payment posting accuracy and notify the SBA Portfolio Manager of any issues
  • Ongoing communication and notifying loan operations via Support Maintenance Inbox for any transaction discrepancies identified within reviewing reports or requests from Borrower or Market. Ensuring payments are posted correctly and notifying the SBA PM along with the market for any transactions appearing such as force placed insurance and possible tax payments transactions to obtain further clarification.
  • Engaging Site Visits with third party vendors when needed and ensuring all invoices are paid and cost added to the loan when applicable and expense tracking especially those related to liquidation and reflecting them in the checklist and ensuring expenses are being added as other charges to the loan.
  • Contact with Loan Officers and Loan Assistants regarding exceptions and organizing updated documentation in the SBA files.
  • Preparing loan modification documents for changes in loan terms as well as amendments to the loan authorizations and financial waiver requests when applicable.
  • Assist in managing the day-to-day operations relating to servicing of the portfolio of SBA loans to ensure that the SBA guaranty is maintained. This will include monitoring any maintenance on SBA loans and working with the Bank's lending staff to ensure they follow certain protocols allowed in the SBA program.
  • Retrieve PPP Applications and PPP Forgiveness Letters for markets requested via PPP Platform as well as submission of PPP Guaranty Purchase Request and continuation of protecting the Bank's SBA guaranty.
  • Modifications inclusive of swapping or adding collateral functions will include ordering title work from the closing department if not title company is involved, UCC's, searches and request require insurance per SBA & FUB policies.
  • Monitoring exceptions placed on SBA loans created for verification of current hazard insurance, current life insurance, real estate tax payments, personal property tax payments, collection of financial- statements, and ensuring timely submission of annual reviews, scorecards, and annual site visit reports prepared by loan officers when required.
  • Assist SBA Portfolio Manager with portfolio management issues which might arise from dealing with loan modifications, loan reviews, and PLP audits by the SBA.
  • Maintain relationship with third party firms hired to handle SBA documents/searches, etc and pay invoices where applicable.
  • Completion of SBA Form 1146 Transcripts for SBA loans and assist in compiling the SBA Guaranty Purchase Packet also including CPC Tabs and other documentation required within the Purchase Package.
  • Assist in providing payoff letters for SBA loans and following up to ensure all collateral is released when loan is paid off, such as life insurance releases and vehicle titles to be sent back to the Borrower.
  • Provide detailed documented actions when required to comply with ongoing servicing regulations and requirements.
  • Secondary backup to reporting and maintain the monthly 1502 reporting to the FTA Guidehouse and completing transfers of GL funds and preparing and verifying wires.
  • Other job-related assignments as assigned.

Education and Work Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of banking industry experience, specifically in loan operations or loan assistant duties.
  • Experience on the servicing of commercial loans, a plus.
  • Experience on the servicing of SBA loans, a plus.
  • Working knowledge of current SBA Standard Operating Procedures relative to Servicing, a plus.

Technical/Functional Competencies

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Display knowledge of standard banking equipment and personal computer.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills displaying the ability to communicate clearly and informatively.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills, reasoning ability and sound-decision making abilities.
  • Demonstrates initiative, judgement/discernment, and self-motivation to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates resourcefulness and concern for quality by understanding systems and processes and suggesting changes when necessary to increase overall efficiency.
  • Demonstrates dependability through good attendance and adherence to timelines and schedules.
