The National Accounts Manager will serve as the concept expert, responsible for analyzing, understanding, and communicating the concept's status. Influence the design and development of competitive strategies to achieve segment growth, establish long-term customer relationships, and oversee customer maintenance and execution. Provide financial insights, evaluate and explain period results, and identify trends, risks, and opportunities. Account sizes may vary based on the account and the Manager's capabilities.

  • Pay rate: $75,000 to $90,000 per year.
  • This role is also eligible to participate in the annual incentive plan with a target incentive of 10% of your base annual salary.

Essential Job Functions:



  • Serve as "chain expert" by providing insights on competitive environment, brand growth initiatives, franchise outlook and potential threats. Identify opportunities for growth based on knowledge of franchise system.
  • Communicate the impact of chain promotions and commodity trends. Communicate how changes in chain strategies impact our business.
  • Develop tools to educate Restaurant teammates to include newsletters, periodic business updates and analysis, and actively participate in meetings with the distribution centers.
  • Collaborate with other chain teams to understand and communicate link between concepts.
  • Gather and interpret competitive intelligence.
  • Work with the customer on possible new business development efforts.
  • Assist in developing marketing strategies to gain long-term profitable contracts.
  • Identify and market "value-added" services to customers.
  • Ultimate responsibility to insure resolution of customer issues.
  • Establish regular, proactive contact with each distribution center and develop relationships with each DC.
  • Direct team participation at franchise meetings and conventions.
  • Conduct customer business reviews with key national accounts.
  • Provide direction to GMs for assigned business reviews.
  • Establish a group of key franchise contacts to provide advice/reactions on issues.
  • Leverage understanding of chain and assist Restaurant business to develop Annual Operating Plan. (AOP)
  • Assist in providing analysis of period results, through CMM and period end conference calls, discuss sales trends, commodity costing, risks, and opportunities.
  • Identify correlation and impact of promotions and mix changes to McLane team.
  • Assist in analyzing and provide insights on key indicators "cause of change".
  • Work with the customer and internal McLane departments to insure accurate and timely setup of new accounts.
  • Maintain key data via comprehensive customer database.
  • Demonstrate complete knowledge of distribution agreements and insure proper execution of obligations, and "off-invoice" commitments.
  • Leverage knowledge of franchise system to assist program management in promotional rollouts.
  • Other duties may be assigned.


Minimum Skills & Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field. Four years of relevant customer/distribution experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Knowledge of distribution operations.
  • Understanding of chain business.
  • Professional presence and relationship building skills.
  • Well versed in Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision.


Working Conditions:



  • Home/Office Environment.
  • Customer Locations.
  • Expected travel up to 50%.
