Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is one of the world's largest international humanitarian non-governmental organizations (INGO), at work in more than 40 countries and 29 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future and strengthen their communities. A force for humanity, IRC employees deliver lasting impact by restoring safety, dignity and hope to millions. If you're a solutions-driven, passionate change-maker, come join us in positively impacting the lives of millions of people world-wide for a better future.

BACKGROUND: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. At work in over 40 countries and 29 US cities to restore safety, dignity, and hope, the IRC leads the way from harm to home. Domestically, our 29 offices across the US ensure new arrivals have food, shelter, and clothing and work with refugees to help them gain self-sufficiency.

This position will join a growing IRC Florida Operations team that supports the Tallahassee office in person as well as the Miami office remotely, emphasizing collaboration and professional development with the Operations Specialist and contributing directly to the agency's anti-poverty initiatives. Through these responsibilities, the CIK & Operations VISTA will actively contribute to the agency's mission to support clients on their path to economic self-sufficiency. The CIK & Operations VISTA plays a critical role in increasing the capacity of frontline IRC staff to secure and distribute essential items, such as food, hygiene items, clothing and housewares, to IRC clients in Tallahassee. These material resources are referred to as Contributions in Kind (CIK) and are factored into the match requirements for certain grants received by IRC. The VISTA will work with the operations team to expand its capacity to identify and secure contributed items for client use; use a new In-Flow system to better inventory, value and direct contributed items for IRC caseworkers to distribute to clients; and assist in recruiting and organizing volunteers to pick up, organize and distribute contributed items.
