MMD Medical, A Velosity Company is searching for a Principal Process Development Engineer to support our manufacturing facility in Brooklyn Park, MN. The Principal Process Development Engineer will lead the development and optimization of precision machining processes. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance manufacturing capabilities, improve product quality, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

The typical pay range for this role: $130,000 - $150,000

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography, internal equity and other relevant factors.

This position includes a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

Essential Duties:

  • Process Development: Lead the development and implementation of precision machining processes, ensuring they meet quality, cost, and efficiency targets.
  • Optimization: Continuously improve existing machining processes to enhance productivity, reduce cycle times, and improve product quality.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and support to engineering teams, including troubleshooting and resolving complex machining issues.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure seamless integration of new processes into production.
  • Innovation: Identify and evaluate new machining technologies and techniques to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed process documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and control plans.
  • Training: Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians on best practices in precision machining.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and other quality improvement tools.
  • Valid identification and the ability to work legally in the United States.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in process development and optimization within a precision machining environment.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining, tooling, and fixture design.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds

Work Environment:

This is a non-smoking, professional tool shop with normal lighting, and climate control. This position requires the employee to work on a manufacturing floor where they may be subject to airborne contaminants and chemical odors, exposure to heat, noise, dust, dirt, oil and waste.

Protective Clothing Required:

When in certain locations of the facility, eye and ear protection are required. Closed-toed/ Slip resistant shoes are also required in certain locations.
