We are actively seeking a talented AVP - Investment Accounting to join our Financial Reporting and Accounting team in Newport Beach, CA. As a AVP - Investment Accounting you will move Pacific Life, and your career, forward by being responsible for investment accounting and reporting across Pacific Life's fixed income, mortgage loan and derivatives portfolios. Accounting and reporting responsibilities include maintaining accurate investment holdings and related results on a US GAAP, Statutory and Tax basis. You will fill existing role that is part of a team in our Corporate Division. Your colleagues will include fellow accounting, financial reporting, and investment management professionals. How you will help move us forward: * The AVP - Investment Accounting is responsible for the timely and accurate accounting and reporting of the Pacific Life fixed income, mortgage loan, and derivatives portfolios. These responsibilities include managing a professional staff of over twenty plus professionals and coordinating with a variety of business partners to periodically close and reconcile the related investment sub-ledgers. The reporting requirements cover a broad spectrum of deliverables included schedules for the Statutory annual statement, audited Statutory financials, and the audited US GAAP financial statements. * Support Pacific Life Investments growth strategies and new asset / product development. Maintain and develop the PAM and Enterprise sub-ledger platforms. Developed and execute OTTI / CECL procedures, SOX controls, accounting policies and results analysis for investments. Coordinate the general ledger close process and annual audit for related investments. * Additional reporting requirements include key deliverable around the OTTI and CECL process, as well as support for the annual audit process. The remaining responsibilities include staff training and development, accounting policy research, accounting system development and new investment initiative / project work. Overall, the position has significant scope and plays a key role in the financial statement process. The position also plays a key role in supporting the investment objects of Pacific Life. The experience you bring: * Subject matter expert in Investment Accounting with the demonstrated ability to direct subordinate managers and professional staff to complete core deliverables. * Strong planning skills combined with an ability to collaborate with key business partners to meet the expectations of users of investment accounting and reporting information. * Experience developing new or improved methods to execute through the investment accounting process combined with a solid knowledge of investment accounting sub-ledger tools. * Experience managing investment accounting policies and requirements in an insurance company setting.
