Position Summary:
The New Jersey
Institute of Technology (NJIT) in Newark, New Jersey is excited to offer an
internship as the NSO Coordinator. This role will assist the professional staff
team of New Student Orientation to organize and implement the summer and winter
new student orientations and family orientations.

Essential Functions:
-Assist in the preparation and implementation of the orientation-leader training
-Serve as part of the professional-staff team and co-supervise 60 orientation leaders
-Assist the pro-staff in organizing and preparing for event logistics prior to each program, and help oversee all aspects of programs during events
-Responsible for assisting with the daily operations of New Student Orientation and Family Programs
-Design and manage website content and email communication campaigns to ensure accurate information
-Handle event creation and updates within Slate by Technolutions to connect students to NJIT
-Assist in the debriefing of each orientation session and organize changes to the next program
-Manage the design and implementation of survey assessment and generate reports based on collected data
-Be an active participant in helping students to transition and feel welcome at NJIT
-Send communications to appropriate parties as needed
-Serve as an on-call representative in case of an emergency or other policy violations
-Other duties as assigned

Prerequisite Qualifications:
-Must demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and patience
-Must be able to work collaboratively in a team setting, as well as with various campus partners, students, and parents
-Must have excellent verbal and communication skills
-Must have a commitment to working with and supporting diverse student populations
-At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position

Preferred Qualifications:
-Current or incoming master's student in student affairs, college student personnel, higher education, counseling, or related graduate program
-Experience working with orientation programs at an institution of higher education
-Experience working with student involvement, event coordination, promotion, social media
-Experience working with parents and guardians
-Knowledge or experience in dealing with student issues and emergencies
