Job Description General Summary: Vertex is seeking a talented field leader to join our US Diabetes Business Unit to support our aspirations of bringing multiple potentially transformative therapies to people living with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). The Executive Director, US Customer Engagement Leader will build and lead the entire field organization for the US T1D Business Unit, which is preparing for potential commercialization of an investigational islet cell therapy. We are seeking a candidate that has a strong track record of developing and successfully executing launch strategies, building and motivating high performing field teams, and supporting novel treatment paradigms. This role will lead two field teams critical to the launch success: (1) Treatment Center Account Management, (2) Healthcare Provider Sales, and will report to the Vice President of the US T1D Business Unit. Delivers customer-facing team results for the Type 1 Diabetes Business Unit Builds the T1D field organization, defining the strategy for the build, hiring the best team, and coaching a team of coaches in a hands-on and tailored fashion Develops and fosters a high-performance culture and a highly engaged team Establishes the account planning process and executes the treatment center plan for the account managers, and sets appropriate goals for the team(s); helps to shape forecasts based on market insights, tracks actual performance against expectations, modifies strategies in response, and holds the team accountable for delivery of results Engages critical customers, particularly to facilitate novel cell therapy adoption and a new treatment model Collaborates across functions to pivot the strategy with urgency to advance the longer-term strategy Actively influences the marketing strategy, helping to shape our approach to treatment center models and referring healthcare provider education Drives the team's adoption of digital and innovative approaches to customer engagement Partners exceptionally well and compliantly with field and HQ stakeholders including marketing, medical, market access, patient support, compliance, field operations, HR, and others to shape cross functional efforts as an influential leader; helps define unique ways of working across teams Builds the most trustworthy team in the industry, role models and instills a culture of compliance focused on ethics and integrity in all we do
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree 15+ years of experience in healthcare/biopharmaceuticals with a mix of field, marketing, account management or an equivalent combination of experience and education 5+ years of supervisory/management experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience Significant hospital or treatment center customer engagement experience

#LI-BW1 Pay Range: $268,000 - $402,000
