Job Summary:

As an Experienced Associate in our Business Restructuring & Turnaround Services practice, you will begin to utilize your educational background, organizational skills, and work experience as you serve the firm's dynamic client base.

You will assist in a wide array of engagements including advising lenders and debtors, distressed and transitional interim management situations, and capital raises for clients in special situations. You will be problem solving, fact-finding, and performing financial analysis and modeling while working side-by-side with experienced team members who can provide you with direction, coaching, and learning opportunities.

Job Duties:

Assists project leader(s) in all facets of engagements



  • Effectively organizes large amounts of data and tracking data provided and pending items from client and/or third parties
  • Obtains an understanding of the structure of the company and issues pertinent to the engagement
  • Participates in preparation for kick-off calls and any other recurring client calls, including preparing agendas, list of questions, open items, follow up emails, etc.
  • Prepares and analyzes complex, detailed cash flow forecasts, financial models, financial reporting packages, lender presentations, etc. with assumptions and detailed supporting schedules
  • Advises lenders of risks inherent in their lending facility and provides support in negotiation and implementation of new lending structures, including credit agreements, amendments, or other financial restructuring strategies
  • Leads companies through distressed CRO or financial advisory roles and implements solutions to improve the financial state of companies while preserving the core business
  • Supports debtors in need of capital to facilitate non-standard situations, including interfacing with potential lenders and investors and advising debtors through the negotiation and implementation of new credit or financial restructuring agreements
  • Provides interim management solutions to distressed companies to either supplement or fill an immediate need at the company
  • Provides interim financial management solutions to companies in transition including leadership roles (CFO, CAO, Controller, etc.), supplements existing financial management team, and provides support for financial reporting, budgeting, and other FP&A analyses and tasks
  • Reviews financial statements and recommends changes
  • Functions as a business advisor to clients


Other duties:



  • Works in crisis environments while delivering consistent high-quality work in an accelerated fashion
  • Supports business development activities with appropriate financial research, including preparation of new business proposals
  • Effectively performs research using Debtwire, Capital IQ, IBIS World, and other research tools available to assist in marketing and business development efforts
  • Willingness to travel

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Logistics/Supply Chain, Management Information Systems, or Marketing, required


Experience:



  • More than one (1) year of experience with a national restructuring firm, management consulting firm, investment bank, large accounting firm, or similar financial institution performing audit, financial recovery or restructuring services, required
  • Prior experience working within a national public accounting firm or consulting organization, preferred
  • Financial analysis and complex modeling skills including expertise with cash receipts and disbursements analysis, financial statement modeling/forecasting, valuations, and the due diligence processes, preferred


License/Certifications:



  • CPA certification, preferred
  • CTP and/or CIRA designation, preferred


Software:



  • High proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior analytical and research skills
  • Clear understanding of basic principles of accounting, operations, and finance
  • Ability to structure complex analyses, gather and analyze data and provide insights
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Excel to create spreadsheets to quantify, manipulate data, and build models, as needed
  • Strong organizational skills especially ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
  • Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment
  • Capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with client personnel
  • Ability to successfully interact with professionals at all levels, inside and outside of BDO, including attorneys, financial advisors, clients and prospects
  • Superior interpersonal, communication, marketing, sales and organizational skills



Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range: $85,000 - $95,000
Maryland Range: $85,000 - $95,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $85,000 - $95,000
