Overview

As a Geologist/Environmental Scientist with CEC, you'll be directly involved with a team responsible for environmental monitoring program management including environmental compliance monitoring and reporting, preparation of associated documents such as groundwater sampling and analysis plans, alternate source demonstrations, assessment monitoring plans, assessment of corrective measures, corrective action plans, corrective action effectiveness evaluations and reporting, and permit minor modification requests. Your primary responsibilities will be to manage and assist with reporting activities, including interpreting environmental data, statistical analysis of environmental data, developing a variety of maps including potentiometric surface and isoconcentration maps, and geologic cross sections. You will also be responsible for planning, overseeing and completing field activities including: assisting with and leading field sampling activities for groundwater, surface water, sediment, air and soil monitoring/assessment projects; oversight of soil boring installation and bedrock coring activities; field screening of various media for evidence of environmental impacts; and documenting groundwater monitoring well and piezometer installation activities.



Qualifications

    B.S. in Geology, Environmental Science or related field (M.S. a plus);
  • Professional Geologist licensure;
  • 10+ years applicable experience completing and managing site characterization and hydrogeological investigations;
  • Experience with Sanitas Statistical Software preferred;
  • Demonstrated experience supervising field staff;
  • Proficient in developing Work Plans, Sampling and Analysis Plans, Alternate Source Demonstrations, and Reports for detection, assessment, and corrective measures monitoring programs;
  • Knowledge of Tennessee regulations and experience working with local regulators (experience in Alabama and Georgia a plus);
  • Experience overseeing and documenting drilling of exploratory borings and installation of groundwater monitoring wells, including preparation of boring logs and well completion diagrams a plus;
  • Experience conducting aquifer testing (e.g., pumping tests) and interpreting aquifer test data a plus; and
  • Environmental compliance experience (spill response plans, water/waste permitting, compliance audits, etc.) a plus.
