We are actively seeking a talented Transactions Manager to join our Investment Accounting and Reporting team in Newport Beach, CA. This role is hybrid. We believe in empowering our employees to get work done both in and out of the office.

As a Manager, Investment Transaction Management, you'll move Pacific Life, and your career, forward by leading a team of Investment Analysts and their related interactions with Operations teams and divisional business partners. The manager oversees the staff's daily activities, training and skill development, as well as performance, striving to deliver both a stellar stakeholder and employee experience. This team's top two key responsibilities are ensuring all Public/Private Investments (Bonds, Bank Loans, Stocks, Derivatives) receivable/payables are cleared, and Reconciliation of the accounting system holdings to the Banks and 3rd parties' holdings.

  • Lead and build a cohesive, high performing team that meets established performance expectations. Identify trends impacting team's ability to meet performance objectives and ensure solutions are developed to address obstacles and are scalable for future growth.
  • Through regular check-in meetings, assist in developing long-term and short-term career goals for all employees, and ensure performance management strategies are communicated timely and achieved.
  • Effectively cascade organizational objectives and information in a timely manner. Help team members positively understand and adapt to change. Ensure department fosters inclusion, positive morale, and strong working relationships.
  • Build solid relationships with peers and key business partners, as well as others, to expand and enrich knowledge and gain a greater perspective of their business need.
  • Complete special projects as assigned

The experience you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of in investment accounting/reporting or operations experience
  • Leadership experience in a Finance or Accounting department
  • Ability to maintain strong organizational skills in a high-volume, fast paced environment under tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication (written and verbal) skills and the ability to collaborate with others to effectively problem solve.
  • Demonstrated drive and ability to motivate, develop, and direct multiple levels of employees to meet core departmental objectives and drive business goals.
  • Strong critical thinking and judgement skills are critical to position, along with comfort using data to inform decisions.

What will make you stand out:

  • CPA/CFA/CAIA/MBA preferred
  • Experience in the life insurance industry and/or financial services
  • Experience with investment accounting tools such as PAM (preferred), CAMRA or Bloomberg
  • Familiarity or working knowledge of a broad spectrum of investment types with a strong background in fixed income, mortgage loans, private equity and derivatives
  • Experience using Business Objects
  • Advanced computer skills and strong command of Excel and Power Point

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$134,280.00 - $164,120.00
