Gannett Fleming TranSystems efficiently manages existing transportation networks and provides direction on smart city initiatives.

Gannett Fleming TranSystems is seeking a Sr. Project Engineer / Project Manager - Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to join our Transportation Operations Group in New York, NY.

As a Sr. Project Engineer / Project Manager - ITS, you will collaborate with a passionate team of transportation professionals focused on shaping the future of mobility across New York. You'll have the opportunity to lead and support innovative ITS and traffic signal projects-enhancing safety, connectivity, and efficiency for communities throughout Long Island.

In this role, you will:
  • Perform engineering design services throughout the project life-cycle, from concept through construction.
  • Works with client and other disciplines to prepare appropriate designs, as dictated by the scope of work.
  • Leads tasks/projects.
  • Analyzes moderate to complex design problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures.
  • Provides direction to younger staff.
  • Develop engineering drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final packages.
  • Communicates with clients on task oriented issues and on project issues.
  • Use strong writing skills and engineering planning to develop guidance documents and reports such as systems engineering documents.
  • Interact with clients to relay clear, concise and consistent project related updates.
  • Participate in projects by completing tasks within schedule and budget.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, and electronic communications.
  • Participate in meetings, seminars, conferences, and committees.
  • Perform project site visits, final inspections, and field work.
  • Reviews project documents for conformity and quality assurance
  • Provides constructability evaluations
  • Participate in the development of proposals as part of a pursuit team
Education | Experience: What you will bring to our firm:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil or Electrical preferred) or relevant discipline
  • Professional Engineer license required
  • 10-15 years' experience working in a relevant field
  • Expertise with CADD
  • Expertise with MS Office
  • Ability to travel and be on-site with client
  • Experience with management of project tasks
What we prefer you bring:
  • Prior project management experience with ITS or traffic operations projects in New York.

  • Familiarity with New York State or local municipal standards.

  • Experience coordinating with utility companies and field installation teams.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $156,000 - $187,000 per year. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
