Job Description

General Summary:

Vertex is seeking a talented individual with the desire to be part of a highly innovative company aimed at transforming the lives of people with serious diseases, their families, and society. As a Senior Manager and member of our Global HEOR team, your primary responsibility will be to execute on the tactical plan that optimizes the supporting evidence and value proposition of Vertex's CF and early pipeline portfolio of assets.

This Senior Manager/Manager will report to the Director HEOR, CF and early pipeline. The role is Hybrid- based in Boston's Seaport District.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute HEOR evidence generation studies, including prospective and retrospective observational studies, systematic literature reviews, clinical outcome assessment measure development and validation studies, cost-effective analyses and budget impact models, as needed, to support the asset value
  • Effectively lead external research partners to ensure robust scientific methods are applied to study design and execution and in compliance with all local regulations; be accountable for study design, data analysis and the quality of the evidence produced. Excellent project management is a pre-requisite to ensure studies delivered on time and within budget.
  • Support development of product value proposition/value messaging and co-lead development of robust Global launch deliverables (e.g., global value dossier)
  • Clearly communicate study findings to cross-functional internal audiences
  • Collaborate with the Medical Communications team on publication strategy and ensures that the dissemination of HEOR evidence is timely and has maximum impact
  • Act as subject matter expert in HEOR evidence generation across the Global organization

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree (e.g., PhD, PharmD, MPH, MS) and an educational focus in a relevant discipline in the areas of health economics or outcomes research
  • Typically requires 6+ years of combined consulting and or biopharmaceutical industry in health economics and outcomes research, or the equivalent combination of education and experience (4+ years of experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience for the Manager role)
  • A strong track record of publishing in peer reviewed scientific journals and presenting at scientific meetings
  • Experience executing observational research studies (prospective and/or retrospective)
  • Technical expert in HEOR, able to formulate and lead complex research projects ensuring that study conduct is technically and scientifically rigorous, reflects best HEOR practices, and managed to timelines and budgets
  • Knowledge of US healthcare system & global Health Technology Appraisal requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and quality focused
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to effectively present technical data and complex concepts to diverse audiences
  • A track record of success functioning in dynamic, matrix environments with the ability to multitask seamlessly
  • Comprehensive understanding of the legal and regulatory environment of the pharmaceutical industry, with spotless history of compliance and ethical workplace conduct

Pay Range:

$144,000 - $216,000

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
